From Seasonal Struggles to Sustainable Livelihood 🌟
Smt. Sarojani Devi, a resident of Jakholi block in Rudraprayag district, was once limited by low and irregular income from seasonal agriculture. Despite her rich traditional handloom skills, lack of market access and resources held her back.

With support from the Gramotthan (REAP-IFAD) Project, she established her own Knitting Enterprise:
✅ Project Support: ₹75,000
✅ Bank Linkage: ₹1,50,000
✅ Beneficiary Contribution: ₹75,000
Today, she produces beautiful handcrafted Sweaters, Stoles, Shawls, Caps, and other woolen items by blending traditional craftsmanship with modern designs.

The Impact:
Monthly income increased from ₹6,000 to ₹8,000
Expanded sales through exhibitions, local markets & online platforms
Better quality of life for her family & education for her children.

Inspired other women in her village to join SHGs and start their own enterprises.

“Every fabric I weave reflects our heritage, and today it also represents financial independence and hope for a better tomorrow.” — Smt. Sarojani Devi
Proud to witness the power of skill, courage, and the right support!

Mushroom cultivation is emerging as a powerful, transformative livelihood option for rural families, especially in hilly and resource-constrained areas like Uttarakhand. With low investment, minimal land requirements, rapid returns, and the ability to utilize agricultural waste, it offers a practical route to financial independence. The Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP), also known as Gramothan Yojana, has made this opportunity accessible and impactful by providing training, financial support, infrastructure, and market linkages to the benificiaries like Deepak from Uttarkashi.

In alignment with the visionary "Vocal for Local" campaign, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set a national foundation for promoting indigenous entrepreneurship.

Inspired by this vision, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami is spearheading an innovative initiative to empower skilled women from self-help groups (SHGs) throughout Uttarakhand. This program makes high-quality products available at petrol pump outlets through the Hilans brand, providing a unique platform for local artisans.

The strategic move aims to boost economic independence by connecting rural women entrepreneurs directly with a wider consumer base. Ultimately, this initiative represents a significant step toward transforming local craftsmanship into a sustainable and empowered livelihood for the state's women.
