Dr Chandrakant Lahariya has extensive experience in disease control & elimination though his work on polio elimination, routine immunization strengthening as well as outbreak and epidemic investigations. In the last fifteen years, he has worked closely with India’s leading health policy makers to develop and implement several health policies and programs at union and state levels. At present, his
work focuses upon universal health coverage, primary healthcare and health systems strengthening. In the year 2012, he received Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) Dr BC Srivastava Foundation Award for his work on translating community-based health research in public policy interventions. He is the youngest fellow ever elected to the Indian Public Health Association (IPHA).

सोशल और मेनस्ट्रीम मीडिया में कोविड-19 की तीसरी लहर को लेकर अलग ही हलचल है। कहा जा रहा है कि तीसरी लहर में बच्चों को सबसे ज्यादा खतरा है। बच्चे ही सबसे ज्यादा संक्रमित होंगे और उनके गंभीर रूप से बीमार होने का रिस्क है।
हालांकि पब्लिक हेल्थ एक्सपर्ट, डॉ. चंद्रकांत लहरिया इन सब अटकलों को निराधार बताते हैं। टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया में छपे अपने लेख में डॉ. चंद्रकांत लिखते हैं कि सभी सबूत तो यही इशारा करते हैं कि बच्चों (0-18 साल) को अपेक्षाकृत कम खतरा रहा है। उन्होंने तीसरी लहर के बच्चों पर असर को लेकर जो लिखा है, उससे हर पेरेंट की टेंशन थोड़ी कम होगी।
