🌞 Empowering women. Accelerating clean energy. Creating .

Under the Solar Didi Initiative, a convergence of DAY-NULM, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, SHG women are promoting rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, with MoHUA mobilising communities and MNRE providing training and placement support.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, distributed 30 offer letters to Solar Didis, recognising their contribution to advancing renewable energy adoption and strengthening women-led community mobilisation.

As Solar Didis, these women are creating awareness, mobilising households, and encouraging citizens to adopt rooftop solar systems—contributing to India's renewable energy goals while building sustainable livelihoods.

📍 The pilot initiative has been launched across 40 cities, with 50 SHG women already employed in Varanasi and Prayagraj, marking the beginning of a new generation of green jobs powered by women.

✨ Amrit Mitra Mahotsav Concludes on a High Note

The at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi brought together over 1,000 SHG members from across the country and was graced by Shri Manohar Lal , Hon’ble Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs.

The event celebrated the role of in strengthening communities and urban water management under 2.0.

On the occasion, the Amrut Mitra Compendium, showcasing best practices from across India, was also launched by the Hon’ble Minister.

Amrut Mitras from different states shared their journeys, reflecting how the mission has helped them build livelihoods, gain independence, and grow in confidence.

Across India, SHG women are supporting urban water management through activities such as plantation drives, water testing, and park maintenance under 2.0.

In this video, Bhavani SHG from Adilabad, Telangana shares their experience of working on chlorine testing and contributing to safer water systems in their city.
