षट्कर्म के फायदे षट्कर्म के बहुत सारे लाभ हैं। इसके कुछ महत्वपूर्ण फायदे का यहां जिक्र किया जा रहा है। षट्कर्म या शोधन योग क्रिया एक ऐसी योगाभ्यास है जो शरीर को शुद्ध करने के में अहम् भूमिका निभाती है। हठयोग के अनुसार शुद्धि क्रिया योग शरीर में एकत्र हुए विकारों, अशुद्धियों एवं विषैले तत्वों को दूर कर शरीर को भीतर से स्वच्छ करती है। उच्चतर योग साधना की दिशा में यह एक पहला चरण है। शुद्धिकरण योग शरीर, मस्तिष्क एवं चेतना पर पूर्ण नियंत्रण का भास देता है। शोधन क्रियाएं स्वच्छ करने की क्रियाओं और तकनीकों की बात करता है, जिनसे शरीर भीतर से स्वच्छ होता है। ये प्रक्रियाएं मनुष्य को प्रत्येक स्तर पर शक्तिशाली एवं व्यापक रूप रोगों से दूर रखता है। रोगों, विकारों तथा अशुद्धियों को शरीर से दूर करने के लिए पूरे शरीर के पूर्ण शुद्धिकरण की प्रक्रिया आवश्यक है। जहाँ षट्कर्म अहम भूमिका निभाता है। जब शरीर में अत्यधिक विकार हो अथवा शरीर में वात, पित्त तथा कफ का असंतुलन हो तो प्राणायाम और योगासन से पूर्व षट्कर्म करना चाहिए। प्राणायाम साधना आरंभ करने से पूर्व सबसे पहले नाड़ी शुद्ध होनी चाहिए जो षट्कर्म दुआरा करनी चाहिए। जब शरीर शुद्ध होगा तो रासायनिक घटकों का अनुपात संतुलित रहेगा। इससे मस्तिष्क के कामकाज पर सकारात्मक प्रभाव पड़ेगा और शरीर तथा मस्तिष्क को स्वस्थ रखने में सहायता मिलेगी। शुद्धि करण से मस्तिष्क को शांत रखने एवं बेचैनी, सुस्ती, नकारात्मक विचारों तथा भावनाओं को दूर करने में सहायता मिलती है। जब मस्तिष्क शांत एवं सतर्क होता है तो जागरुकता का स्तर सरलता से बढ़ाया जा सकता है। षट्कर्म तनाव से लड़ने एवं स्वास्थ्य सुधारने में सहायता करते हैं। वे विश्राम प्रदान कर तनाव कम करते हैं। षट्कर्म की छह प्रमुख क्रियाओं में धौति (कुंजल एवं वस्त्रधौति) क्रिया संपूर्ण पाचन का शोधन करती है और साथ ही साथ यह अतिरिक्त पित्त, कफ, विष को दूर करती है तथा शरीर के प्राकृतिक संतुलन को वापस लाती है। वस्ति, शंखप्रक्षालन तथा मूलशोधन से आंतें पूरी तरह स्वच्छ हो जाती हैं, पुराना मल एवं कृमि दूर हो जाते हैं, पाचन विकारों का उपचार होता है। नियमित रूप से नेति क्रिया करने पर कान, नासिका एवं कंठ क्षेत्र से गंदगी निकालने की प्रणाली ठीक से काम करती है तथा यह सर्दी एवं कफ, एलर्जिक राइनिटिस, ज्वर, टॉन्सिलाइटि
