A celebration of National Honey Bee Day is organised at Kevadia, Statue of Unity by National Bee Board and MoAFW with Shri Narendra Singh Tomar , Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers as the Chief Guest. as the formation and implementing agency for Honey FPOs as well as one of the stakeholders for Honey production in the country is also participating in the event which will see Launching of Honey Testing Labs and Processing Unit, among other activities.

विश्व मधुमक्खी दिवस की शुभकामनाएं।
विश्व मधुमक्खी दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष 20 मई को मनाया जाता है। इस अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस का उद्देश्य पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र के लिए मधुमक्खियों और अन्य परागणकों की भूमिका को स्वीकार करना है।
हर साल इस दिन, ग्लोबल वर्ल्ड मधु मक्खियों और अन्य सभी परागणकों के संरक्षण के महत्व पर ध्यान केंद्रित करती हैं।
क्या आपको पता है :
1. हालांकि मधुमक्खियों के पैर जोड़ होते हैं, लेकिन उनके पास घुटना टेकने जैसा कुछ नहीं होता है, और इसलिए उनके घुटने नहीं होते हैं।
2. शहद में एंटीसेप्टिक गुण होते हैं और इसे सदियों से घावों के लिए ड्रेसिंग और जलने और कटने के लिए प्राथमिक उपचार के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया जाता था।
3. शहद में प्राकृतिक फल शर्करा - फ्रुक्टोज और ग्लूकोज - शरीर द्वारा जल्दी पच जाते हैं। यही कारण है कि खिलाड़ी और एथलीट प्राकृतिक ऊर्जा को बढ़ावा देने के लिए शहद का उपयोग करते हैं।
4. मधुमक्खी पालन की प्रथा कम से कम 4,500 साल पुरानी है।
5. एक पौंड शहद बनाने के लिए मधुमक्खियों को दो मिलियन फूलों से अमृत इकट्ठा करना पड़ता है
6. एक पाउंड शहद बनाने के लिए एक मधुमक्खी को लगभग 90,000 मील - दुनिया भर में तीन बार उड़ान भरनी पड़ती है।
7. औसत मधुमक्खी अपने जीवनकाल में एक चम्मच शहद का केवल 1/12वां हिस्सा ही बनाती है।
8. संग्रह यात्रा के दौरान एक मधुमक्खी 50 से 100 फूलों पर जाती है।
9. एक मधुमक्खी छह मील तक और 15 मील प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से उड़ सकती है।
10. मधुमक्खियां नृत्य करके संवाद करती हैं।

World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20 each year. The purpose of the international day is to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem.
Every year on this day, the global public will focus on the importance of preserving honey bees and all other pollinators. People will be reminded of the significance of bees in providing for the needs of humanity.
Did you know:
1.Though bees have jointed legs, they do not possess anything like a kneecap, and therefore do not have knees.
2. Honey has antiseptic properties and was historically used as a dressing for wounds and a first aid treatment for burns and cuts.
3. The natural fruit sugars in honey – fructose and glucose – are quickly digested by the body. This is why sportsmen and athletes use honey to give them a natural energy boost.
4. The practice of beekeeping dates back at least 4,500 years.
5. Bees must gather nectar from two million flowers to make one pound of honey
6. One bee has to fly about 90,000 miles – three times around the globe – to make one pound of honey.
7. The average bee will make only 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.
8. A honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip.
9. A honey bee can fly for up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour.
10. Bees communicate by dancing.

Three days training and packaging of Nettle tea - Sorong Tea under Van Dhan Yojana concluded today at Naga Namgor, North Sikkim, Sikkim. Hon'ble Minister for Roads and Bridges, Shri Samdup Lepcha attended the program in presence with other officials.
Hon'ble Minister Lepcha applauded the efforts made by the SHG members and the Implenting Department for encouraging rural entrepreneurship and for paving a way for the start of many success stories to come from the North district.

It was a fruitful conclave which featured technical sessions on topics like Honey Bee Colony and Floral Honey; production of Wild and forest honey; wild honey collection, wax processing and capacity building of tribal communities in bee keeping.

Shri Arjun Munda while speaking on the occassion thanked for organising the event and said "I hope TRIFED as an implementing agency for formation of 14 Honey Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will assist in taking ahead the vision of our Hon'ble Prime Minister in making country Atmanirbhar. The formation of Honey FPOs will prove to be a boon for tribal beekeepers and honey gatherers by bringing a Madhu Kranti". He also emphasized on the need for sustainable development of the sector.
