Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, Hon’ble Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, along with Dr. Habbey Teron, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, and Hon’ble MLAs Surjya Rongphar, Lunsing Teron and Niso Terangpi, submitted two important memoranda to Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram Ji.
The memoranda sought continued support from the Government of India for strengthening education, healthcare and overall development across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
In the first memorandum, Dr. Tuliram Ronghang sought continued support for developmental proposals initiated under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) and requested further expansion of residential educational facilities for tribal students.
While expressing gratitude for the four Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) already approved at Howraghat, Phuloni, Silonijan and Donka (Rongkhang), he requested the sanction of 22 additional EMRS to extend quality residential education to the remaining Autonomous Council Constituencies across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
He also requested the sanction of 66 Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels, particularly for students from remote and interior villages, where access to safe residential facilities can play an important role in improving enrolment, regular attendance and completion of education.
Through a separate memorandum, Dr. Tuliram Ronghang sought the Hon’ble Minister’s intervention for the establishment of 10-bedded hospitals at 13 identified locations across Karbi Anglong. The proposed facilities aim to bring essential healthcare, emergency services, maternal and child healthcare, and basic medical treatment closer to people living in remote and underserved areas.
The proposed locations include Dongkamukam, Diring, Langvoku, Parkup Pahar, Khorsing Terang No. 2 at Disama, Rongmongwe, Samelangso, Ghariyal Dubi, Morakondoi Guri, Arlong Chohu–Upper Rangsali, Sildharampur–Dokmoka, Langsoliet and Rongthubong.
The message remains clear: geographical terrain should not become a barrier preventing a child from receiving quality education or a family from accessing timely healthcare.
Dr. Tuliram Ronghang sincerely expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Jual Oram Ji and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for the support already extended to the region, while remaining hopeful of favourable consideration of these important proposals.
The continued efforts are aimed at bringing education, healthcare and development closer to every tribal and rural community of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
