17वीं राज्य ब्रॉडबैंड समिति (एसबीसी), असम की बैठक 29 जून 2026 को आयोजित की गई, जिसकी अध्यक्षता असम सरकार के प्रधान सचिव (आईटी) ने की। असम एलएसए ने श्री राजेन्द्र मेश्राम, अपर महानिदेशक दूरसंचार के कुशल नेतृत्व में बैठक का सफलतापूर्वक संचालन किया। बैठक में वर्तमान में प्रचलित तथा उच्च स्तर पर निकटता से निगरानी किए जा रहे सभी महत्वपूर्ण विषयों पर विस्तृत चर्चा की गई।

बैठक में संबंधित सदस्य विभागों के प्रतिनिधियों के साथ-साथ बीएसएनएल, एपीडीसीएल तथा इंडस टावर्स के विशेष आमंत्रित प्रतिनिधि भी उपस्थित रहे। डीआईपीए एवं सीओएआई के प्रतिनिधियों ने नई दिल्ली से वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से बैठक में भाग लिया।

बैठक में राइट ऑफ वे (RoW), Call Before U Dig (CBuD), डिजिटल भारत निधि (DBN) परियोजनाएँ (4G Saturation Project एवं Amended BharatNet Program), SASCI अनुपालन सहित अन्य महत्वपूर्ण दूरसंचार संबंधी विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श किया गया। साथ ही, आमजन के बीच संचार साथी (Sanchar Saathi) तथा विद्युतचुंबकीय विकिरण (EMR) के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने पर भी चर्चा की गई।

असम राज्य सरकार ने भारत सरकार के संचार मंत्रालय के दूरसंचार विभाग की सभी चल रही योजनाओं और पहलों में हमेशा समर्थन दिया है और अपना पूरा सहयोग व्यक्त किया है।

On 29 May 2026, Addl. DG(T), Assam LSA, along with the DDGs, addressed a press conference and highlighted the significant progress made in strengthening telecom infrastructure across Assam. Various DoT initiatives were discussed, including Sanchar Saathi for combating telecom frauds, CBuD for preventing damage to underground telecom assets caused by unauthorized digging, awareness on EMR myths and facts, establishment of 5G Use Case Labs at NIT Silchar and IIT Guwahati, DBN-funded schemes for extending connectivity to rural and remote areas, and the role of Sanchar Mitras in promoting awareness about telecom developments and cyber fraud prevention.

An awareness programme on telecom and cyber security was conducted by Security Vertical Assam LSA on 29.05.2026 for ITBP Jawans at Eastern Command, Dharapur. Key citizen-centric services under Sanchar Saathi, including mechanism for reporting fraudulent communications, blocking & tracing lost/stolen mobile handsets through CEIR module etc. were highlighted.

ITBP personnel took keen interest and actively participated in the programme.
