Previously Gobichettipalayam was called as Verapandi Gramam, and more documents and records still use that name. Gobichettipalayam is warm and humid for most of the year. Gobichettipalayam is known for the Temple Pariyur Amman and the dam Kodavari. Pariyur Amman temple is dedicated to the goddess
