Deaf and Dumb Association formed in Ganderbal; urges government to help in uplifting their standard
Ganderbal, May 29: Eager to bring a positive social change and uplift the standard of specially abled people in the district, passionate kids in their early teen age, have urged government to take immediate steps to encourage the deaf and dumb, as to cater their needs at various fronts.
Named as "D&D Association, Ganderbal", these kids have already planned to organise some sports and physical activities for the children who are not able so speak and hear. This activity calender is supposed to be taken up as soon as the Corona Scare goes off.
For those differently abled kids, this association urges to get government assistance in engaging speech therapists and special sign language experts in all private and government schools, sports clubs and other technical institutions, so that such kids would be given equal chances to compete with others in the fields of education, sports, cultural and other fields.
Conveying their message to Global Newsline, the founders and activists of this association Adarsh Verma and Sofi Tajamul said they felt the need of having an association that would actually represent all deaf and dumb in bringing to fore their problems and challenges. They urged LG government and all its concerned departments to help this association so that it would ensure a happy and dignified life to all deaf and dumb.
The founder duo also explained the covid-19 precautionary measures like social distancing, hand washing, mask wearing and other steps in their special sign language.
