Farewell Function Held at ZPHQ Jammu

Jammu, August 19: Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu today organised a farewell function to bid a warm and respectful farewell to Insp. Ashish Choudhary, on his transfer to a new assignment.

2. Insp. Ashish Choudhary, who served at ZPHQ Jammu since February 2025, was appreciated for his dedication, professionalism and sincere service during his tenure. The farewell function was held at the Conference Hall, ZPHQ Jammu, and was graced by Sh. Rajinder Singh, JKAS, Staff Officer to IGP Jammu, as the Chief Guest.

3. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest appreciated the outgoing officer’s valuable contribution and commitment towards the efficient functioning of the department and conveyed his best wishes for success in his future assignment. As a token of appreciation, he also presented a memento to Insp. Ashish Choudhary.

4. Among those present were Sh. Janardhan Salathia, Private Secretary to IGP Jammu; Sh. Himanshu Mahajan, Senior Prosecuting Officer, ZPHQ Jammu; and S. Narinder Singh, ADO, ZPHQ Jammu, besides other officers and officials. The function concluded on a warm note, with colleagues extending their heartfelt wishes for Insp. Ashish Choudhary’s continued success, good health and well-being in his future endeavours.

IGP Jammu Chairs Comprehensive Security Review Meeting Ahead of Independence Day 2026 Celebrations

JAMMU, AUGUST 08: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Sh. Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, today chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ), Jammu, to review the security and policing arrangements for the forthcoming Independence Day 2026 celebrations across the Jammu Zone. The meeting was co-chaired by Sh. Asif Jalal, IPS, Inspector General, BSF Jammu Frontier, and Sh. Amol V. Homkar, IPS, Inspector General, CRPF Jammu Sector.

2. The deliberations focused on the overall security scenario, threat assessment, anti-terror measures, area domination, intelligence coordination, border security, protection of vital installations, traffic management, deployment planning and contingency preparedness for the Independence Day celebrations.

3. The IGP Jammu directed all officers to maintain the highest level of alertness and ensure seamless coordination among all security agencies. He emphasized strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing surveillance of sensitive areas, intensifying checking operations and ensuring robust security arrangements at all venues of public functions.

4. Special emphasis was laid on inter-agency coordination, quick response capabilities, communication preparedness and implementation of comprehensive security protocols to ensure peaceful and secure celebrations throughout the Jammu Zone.

5. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the CAPFs, Army, J&K Police, Central Intelligence Agencies.

IGP Jammu inaugurates modernized conference hall at ZPHQ Jammu

JAMMU, AUGUST 08: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Sh. Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, today inaugurated the newly renovated Conference Hall at ZPHQ Jammu. The upgraded facility is equipped with modern infrastructure and technology to support meetings, video conferences, training programmes, and administrative functions.

2. In a gesture recognising grassroots contribution, the IGP invited HC Baldev Raj to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony. He appreciated the officers and staff involved in the project and specially commended HC Rajinder Singh Thakur for his dedication and efforts in the renovation work.

3. The ceremony was attended by DIG JSK Range Sh. Shridhar Patil, IPS, senior officers of ZPHQ and RPHQ Jammu, and other police officers and staff.

IGP Jammu, Sh Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, bid a warm farewell to Shri Shashank Anand, IPS, outgoing IG, BSF Jammu Frontier, on his transfer and extended a warm welcome to Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, who has assumed charge as the new IG, BSF Jammu Frontier.

The function was attended by Maj. Gen. Ajit M. Yeole, VSM, GOC, 26 Infantry Division; Shri Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Shri Amol V. Homkar, IPS, IG CRPF, Jammu Sector; all Range DIGs of Jammu Zone; and senior officers of the BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, NIA, J&K Police and the Civil Administration, reflecting the enduring spirit of inter-agency coordination, mutual cooperation and collective commitment towards ensuring peace, security and effective border management in the Jammu region.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu and IGP Jammu review arrangements for Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra 2026.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu and IGP Jammu reviewed the preparedness for 2026 in Poonch, assessing security, traffic management, accommodation, healthcare, sanitation and other essential arrangements.

2. All departments were directed to ensure timely completion of preparations for a safe, secure and hassle-free pilgrimage. The officers also interacted with civil society members and religious representatives to seek suggestions for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.

3. The first batch of yatris will be flagged off from Jammu on 16 August 2026, while the Chhari Yatra is scheduled for 26 August 2026. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of the recent flash floods.
