Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog, attended the 30th Convocation Ceremony of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, as the Chief Guest on 8 August 2026, celebrating the achievements of the graduating students as they embark on a new phase of life.

Addressing the graduates, Prof. Das emphasised that a strong sense of responsibility towards society is among the most important aspects of life. He encouraged students to translate the values they have learned into meaningful action and contribute to nation-building in support of the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Reflecting on the transition from university to professional and personal life, he urged the graduates to carry forward the values of compassion, empathy, and coexistence, which can guide them not only towards professional success but also towards becoming responsible and socially conscious citizens.

Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog, addressed students, researchers, and faculty at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, on the role of the bioeconomy in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.

During his address, Prof. Das encouraged students to pursue deep-tech bio-startups and transform them into globally competitive enterprises. Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog, delivered the keynote address at the policy dialogue on "Towards a Healthier Madhya Pradesh: Tackling NCDs – Status and Way Forward," organised by the Madhya Pradesh Rajya NITI Aayog.

The discussion focused on addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through preventive healthcare, quality screening, healthy lifestyles, regular physical activity, and routine monitoring. It also highlighted the importance of community participation, inter-ministerial convergence, and learning from global best practices to strengthen public health outcomes.

Prof. Das also drew attention to the increasing burden of diseases beyond traditional NCDs, including beta thalassemia, cancer, and sickle cell anaemia, particularly among tribal communities. He emphasised the need for preventive interventions across the life cycle and called for strengthening research and innovation at the State level to effectively address the evolving health challenges.

Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member, NITI Aayog, met the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, and chaired a review meeting with Madhya Pradesh Rajya NITI Aayog and senior State officials to review the progress of key development initiatives and discuss opportunities to accelerate the State's growth through cooperative federalism.

The discussions highlighted Madhya Pradesh's development priorities, including innovation and entrepreneurship through Startup MP, and the need for greater convergence among national institutions in the State. Prof. Das encouraged the State to leverage its untapped potential by prioritising key sectors such as education, agriculture, mining, and health, supported by robust monitoring, clear action plans, and outcome-oriented roadmaps.

The meeting also focused on creating an enabling ecosystem to attract talent, investment, tourism, and industry, while strengthening food processing, exports, and institutional infrastructure. Emphasis was laid on undertaking a comprehensive gap analysis to ensure balanced and inclusive development, with a long-term vision of establishing Madhya Pradesh as a hub for education, innovation, and healthcare, while ensuring equitable development, particularly for tribal communities.
