A Farmers–Scientists Interaction Programme was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kamrup, Kahikuchi, under the ATMA scheme of Kamrup District, with the participation of 35 progressive farmers from six blocks.

Shri Mukul Barman, ADA-cum-DPD, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of direct interaction between farmers and agricultural experts. Dr. Sonmoina Bhuyan, Head, KVK, also attended the programme as Chief Guest.

Dr. Iladkshi Deka spoke on scientific duck and poultry rearing, disease prevention and management, while Ms. Juri Talukdar highlighted natural farming practices and the management of crop diseases and pests.

The interactive programme provided farmers with practical technical knowledge and solutions to field-level challenges, contributing towards improved productivity, sustainable farming and enhanced farmers’ income.

The Hon'ble Chairperson and Members of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited Kamrup today as part of an Exposure-cum-Learning Visit, fostering the exchange of best practices in strengthening child protection mechanisms.

The delegation interacted with key stakeholders, attended a presentation on Kamrup's child protection framework and visited the District Commissioner's Office Library.

The visit concluded with fruitful discussions aimed at enhancing collaborative efforts for the welfare and protection of children.

The meeting was attended by the Hon'ble Chairperson & Members of the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights; District Commissioner Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kamrup; Additional District Commissioner (WCD); Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime); representatives of the State Child Protection Society, Block Development Officers, District Social Welfare Officer, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), GP Secretaries and members of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), among other stakeholders.

The Government of Assam is empowering the youth through the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme and the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Scheme, two flagship Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiatives aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to higher education.

✅ In Kamrup district, 12,590 students (College + Higher Secondary Schools) are beneficiaries under the Higher Secondary category.

✅ At the degree level, 20,441 girl students are receiving assistance under the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme, while 10,660 boy students are covered under the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Scheme.

✅ Additionally, 657 postgraduate girl students are benefiting under the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Scheme
