The Royal Family of Tirwa traces its ancestry from Vyaghra Rao in 596 AD. Kannauj became independent in 1308 AD.

The title of Raja was given to the eldest son Samar Singh by the Emperor in 1697 AD and it was then the Tirwa Raj was finally established.
