A 3-Day Block Level Non-Residential Training on Organic Farming and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Certification was successfully conducted under BMMU Lowairpoa Development Block. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of Local Group (LG) Leaders, Krishi Sakhis (KS), and Pashu Sakhis (PS) on sustainable organic farming practices and the PGS certification process.

**Day 1: Orientation & Theoretical Session**

The training commenced with an orientation session for **LG Leaders, Krishi Sakhis (KS), and Pashu Sakhis (PS)**. The following topics were covered:

* Introduction to Organic Farming
* Scope, Importance, and Benefits of Organic Farming
* Introduction to Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Certification
* Eligibility Criteria, Importance, Benefits, and Certification Process under PGS

**Day 2: Practical Demonstrations**

The second day began with a prayer followed by a **Tree Sapling Plantation** programme. Participants received a practical demonstration on **Mulching**, highlighting its methods, benefits, and importance in conserving soil moisture and improving soil health.

The following practical demonstrations were also conducted:

* **Bamboo Biochar:** Preparation methods, required materials, benefits, and scope in sustainable agriculture.
* **Bio-Intensive Raised Bed:** Construction methods, advantages, and scope for improving crop productivity.

**Day 3: Organic Input Preparation**

The final day focused on hands-on preparation of various organic inputs and sustainable farming techniques. Practical demonstrations included:

* **Heap Compost:** Methods, benefits, and scope.
* **Vermicompost:** Preparation techniques and advantages.
* **Cow-Dung Cake:** Preparation steps, uses, and benefits.
* **Seed Bomb:** Preparation process, applications, and environmental benefits.
* **Zero Tillage Bed:** Preparation methods, benefits, and importance in soil conservation.
* **Liquid Fish Manure:** Preparation steps, application methods, and benefits for crop nutrition.

The three-day programme concluded successfully with active participation and enthusiastic involvement of all trainees.

An iconic and unique initiative taken-up by BMMU,Lowairpoa in entire Barak Valley Region.Inaugurated Mahila Bazar(Manikband Women Market) on 01-07-2026 in presence of ADC, Sribhumi,DPM,ASRLM,Sribhumi,Executive Engineer,Zila Parishad,Sribhumi and assistant BDO, Lowairpoa Development Block, visited Kanaklata CLF for the inauguration of the newly established Manikbond Mahila Market under BMMU Lowairpoa Development Block.

The programme commenced with the formal inauguration of the Mahila Market, which has been established to provide a dedicated platform for women entrepreneurs and SHG members to market and sell their products, thereby promoting sustainable livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment.We also launched a product named as Dadi K Achar(Gaon Ka swad,Dadi ka Pyar) of different types of pickles.We also distributed CIF among 10(ten nos VOs).

During the visit, Community Investment Fund (CIF) was distributed to 10 Village Organizations (VOs) to strengthen their financial capacity and support various livelihood and developmental activities.

An interactive session was also conducted with CLF, VO representatives, and community cadres. The dignitaries discussed various issues, opportunities, and challenges across different verticals, including livelihoods, financial inclusion, social development, and enterprise promotion. Valuable suggestions were shared to improve programme implementation, strengthen institutional functioning, and enhance the effectiveness of different DAY-NRLM interventions.

Today, a training programme on the *Functionalization of Community Composed Pit (CCP)* under the *Solid Waste Management (SWM)* initiative was conducted with Village Organization (VO) representatives and Community Cadres under *BMMU Lowairpoa Development Block*. The session covered various aspects of CCP management, including its operation, maintenance, and effective utilization for sustainable waste management.

Thereafter, a *Quarterly Review Meeting* on the *Organic Farming Project, a **Monthly Meeting* with Local Groups (LGs), and a review meeting on the *Organic Shop* with LG Leaders, KS, and PS under the Organic Farming Project were conducted. The meetings focused on reviewing project progress, discussing key challenges, and planning future activities for effective implementation.

The programme concluded with a practical demonstration on the preparation of *Seed Bombs* and *Cow Dung Cakes*, highlighting their importance and benefits in environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and organic farming practices.

To-day, a training programme on **Organic Farming and PGS Certification** was conducted for **Krishi Sakhis (KS), Pashu Sakhis (PS), Jeevika Sakhis (JS), and Local Group (LG) leaders**.

The following topics were discussed during the training:

* Introduction to Organic Farming
* Benefits of Organic Farming
* Current status of existing farming practices
* Scope, methods, and practical approaches to organic farming
* Introduction to PGS (Participatory Guarantee System) Certification
* Benefits of PGS Certification
* Process for obtaining PGS Certification
* Practical demonstrations through previously conducted organic farming photos and videos

After the training, a meeting was held with **Shree Local Group** of **Kanikhai F.V.** under **Lowairpoa GP**. The discussion covered:

* Need and scope of the Local Group
* Benefits and future prospects of organic farming
* Requirement of opening a Local Group bank account
* Current status and progress of the Local Group
* Future action plan for strengthening the group

Subsequently, livelihood activities of the Local Group members were also monitored through field visits and interactions with the members.

On 16th of June 2026, Respected DPM Madam along with PRI CBO Member Shri Pathak Sir visited Kanaklata CLF under BMMU Lowairpoa.

Key activities undertaken during the visit:
1. Visit to Damcherra Tri-State Market

* Inspected the market and reviewed the availability and quality of products.
* Discussed the scope for promotion and marketing of local products.
* Explored opportunities for enhancing market linkages and income generation for SHG members.

2. *Inauguration of LSC*

* Inaugurated the Livelihood Support Centre (LSC) established for Pratham IFC and Akshaya IFC under Kanaklata CLF.
* Reviewed the facilities and discussed its role in strengthening livelihood activities.

3. *Interaction Meeting at Kanaklata CLF*

* The programme commenced with a welcome song by CLF members.
* Introduction of participants was followed by an interactive session with community cadres, VO representatives, and CLF leaders.
* Discussions focused on future prospects, livelihood opportunities, institutional strengthening, and action plans for sustainable development.

4. *Visit to Balipipla Mahila VO*

* Interacted with VO members and reviewed the functioning of the VO.
* Inspected VO assets and handicraft products prepared by members.
* Discussed future scope, market opportunities, and strategies for improving livelihoods through handicraft activities.

5. *Visit to Nandigram Producer Group (PG)*

* Interacted with PG members regarding ongoing activities and future plans.
* Discussed opportunities for strengthening group-based enterprises and market access.
* Inspected the Community Hiring Centre (CHC) Pulverizer and reviewed its utilization and benefits to members.

6. *Visit to Asha Mahila VO*

* Visited and inspected the Mahila Bazar managed by the VO.
* Reviewed the availability and variety of products being marketed.
* Discussed the current status, challenges, future plans, and opportunities for expansion and sustainability.

The visit provided valuable guidance and encouragement to community institutions and members. Various suggestions were shared for strengthening livelihood initiatives, improving market access, and ensuring sustainable growth of SHGs, VOs, PGs, and IFCs under BMMU Lowairpoa
