Cyber Crime Crackdown -Kolkata Police

Kolkata Police Cyber Crime Branch arrested 3 individuals linked to an illegal call center operating from Maheshtala. The accused were impersonating global tech brands and targeting US citizens through VOIP-based fraud, remote access scams.

During raid police seized some digital devices include laptops, mobile phones, router, incriminating digital data and ₹2,06,000 cash.

The Cyber Crime Branch, Kolkata has successfully busted an illegal call centre operating fraudulent activities in the city.Acting on credible intelligence and technical analysis, a late-night raid led to: Arrest of 4 individuals involved in cyber fraud, seized multiple mobile devices & pre-activated SIM cards,and recovered multiple incriminating digital evidence.

The accused were running a well-organized online scam, impersonating identities on social media platforms to deceive citizens across India and siphon money through illegal means.

⚠️ এক ক্লিকেই সর্বনাশ! সাইবার প্রতারণা থেকে ২১ লক্ষ টাকা উদ্ধার করল কলকাতা পুলিশ।
সামাজিক মাধ্যমে ব্যাংকের অতিরিক্ত সুবিধার লোভনীয় বিজ্ঞাপনে ক্লিক করেছিলেন ব্যাংক অফ বরোদার এক অবসরপ্রাপ্ত কর্মী। অজান্তেই মোবাইলে ইনস্টল হয়ে যায় রিমোট অ্যাক্সেস অ্যাপ—আর মুহূর্তের মধ্যে প্রতারকদের হাতে খোয়া যায় প্রায় ২৩ লক্ষ টাকা।
অভিযোগ পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই Cyber Fraud Recovery Section, CCB, DD, Kolkata Police দ্রুত পদক্ষেপ নিয়ে অভিযুক্তের অ্যাকাউন্টে থাকা ২১ লক্ষ টাকা অবরুদ্ধ করে এবং আইনানুগ প্রক্রিয়ায় সেই অর্থ ভুক্তভোগীর অ্যাকাউন্টে ফিরিয়ে দেয়।

On its very first day, the helpline received nearly 212 calls from people seeking guidance and support regarding various cyber fraud concerns. Our team remains committed to helping citizens stay alert against scams such as “Digital Arrest,” fake KYC update frauds, investment scams, and other emerging threats. Kolkata Police urges everyone not to panic or make hurried decisions when receiving suspicious calls or messages — always verify first and reach out to our toll-free helpline for trusted guidance and support.
