*PDP Vice President Mohd Sartaj Madni Demands Immediate Release of Chaudhary Talib Hussain*
Devsar, June 5: Senior leader and Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party, Mohd Sartaj Madni, has strongly condemned the detention of senior PDP leader Chaudhary Talib Hussain and demanded his immediate release.
In a statement issued, Madni expressed serious concern over the detention of Talib Hussain, who was reportedly participating in a peaceful protest at Raika Bandi, Sidhra, in support of families affected by a recent demolition drive carried out by the Forest Department. He said that raising the concerns of vulnerable and affected residents is a democratic right and should not be met with punitive action.
Madni described Talib Hussain as a dedicated public representative who has consistently stood with the people during difficult times. He asserted that detaining political leaders and activists for highlighting public grievances sends a disturbing message and undermines democratic values.
“The government and administration must listen to the concerns of the affected families instead of resorting to detentions. Talib Sahib was peacefully advocating for the rights of the people, and there is no justification for keeping him in custody,” Madni said.
The PDP leader urged the administration to immediately release Talib Hussain and all others detained during the protest. He also called upon the authorities to engage with the affected families, address their concerns, and ensure that justice is delivered through a fair and transparent process.
Madni reiterated that the PDP will continue to stand with the people and raise its voice against any action that adversely affects the rights and livelihoods of citizens. He emphasized that democratic dissent and peaceful protest are essential components of a healthy democracy and must be respected at all times.
