The purposes of the Society (SEM) shall be to create, promote, disseminate and increase the knowledge of ecosystem management for sustainable human-nature relationship in the face of changing climate. More specifically, (1) Conduct and encourage research in all areas related to the ecosystems management e.g., wetlands, soil systems, forestry, industrially polluted sites, invaded areas etc. (2) Dis
seminate available and generated scientific and technical information related to ecosystem management through socio-scientific programs, publications and the media to the members of the Society, to public and private institutions, and to the urban and rural masses. (3) Conduct programs of public and school education (pedagogy) to raise awareness and understanding of all aspects of the ecosystem management as a technique for environmental conservation. (4) Promote the exchange of information related to ecosystem management among disciplines, institutions, regions and nations. (5) Train and aware farmers for environmental problems in modern agricultural practices and methods development for agricultural reform for better income generation. (6) Awake people for sustainable use of natural resources (forests, soil, air and water), models/methods development for their managements. (7) Establishment of healthy relationships between industrialization/ modernization and management of natural ecosystems. (8) Conducting, promoting and coordinating research & development programs for mitigation of hazardous environmental problems. (9) Felicitate recognized individuals, organizations, groups and agencies those have made outstanding contributions to the sustainable human-nature relationship. (10) Encourage public and private organizations to adopt policies and regulations which promote sustainable human-nature relationship and thereby articulating the Society’s position to effectively contribute in national planning for management of natural resources. (12) Publication of original research, synthesis and reviews and constructive criticisms with regard to ecosystem management and sustainable human-nature relationships. (13) Pursue the objectives decided by governing body time-to-time in the interests of the Society’s agenda.
