Dhavrukh NGO Receives Esteemed Guests, Celebrates Continued Environmental Efforts
On February 16, 2025, Dhavrukh a Mandre based NGO had the honor of hosting two distinguished guests, Shri. Devendra Prabhu Desai and Shri. Kapil Kishor Korgaonkar, renowned for their contributions to society and environmental protection. The visit highlighted the importance of community-driven efforts and underscored the remarkable progress of the Dhavrukh NGO in its mission to protect the environment.
Shri. Kapil Kishor Korgaonkar, a well-respected social worker from Siolim, made a significant gesture of support by donating a drill machine and a grinder cutter to the NGO. He praised the tireless work done by Dhavrukh over the past eight years, particularly in the areas of tree plantation and water conservation. "The commitment and dedication of the volunteers are truly commendable," Korgaonkar remarked. "They set an example for us all, and I hope their efforts inspire many more to take action for the environment."
In addition to his donation, Shri. Korgaonkar emphasized the need for collective responsibility in environmental protection and urged others to support such causes. He expressed his admiration for the volunteers, who continue to make a significant impact through their unwavering efforts.
Shri. Devendra Prabhu Desai, prominent educator ,social worker and founder of Prabhudesai foundationa also extended his support by donating ₹10,000 towards the activities of Dhavrukh NGO. He applauded the organization's efforts to enhance Goa’s natural resources and emphasized the importance of environmental consciousness in today's world. "The work being done by the volunteers is invaluable, and I am happy to contribute in my small way to help advance these efforts," he said. Prabhu Desai further expressed his commitment to continue supporting the organization’s endeavors, encouraging volunteers to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a cleaner, greener future.
Shri. Kaushal Parsekar senior volunteer of Dhavrukh coordinated the event. Shri. Tushar Govekar, Secretary Dhavrukh formally thanked Shri. Devendra Prabhu Dessai and Shri. Kapil Kishor Korgaonkar for their generous gesture towards Dhavrukh.
The dignitaries, together with the dedicated volunteers of Dhavrukh, actively participated in a tree maintenance drive at Treeofhope, where they watered saplings and trees, ensuring their healthy growth. This hands-on involvement served as a symbol of solidarity and a reminder that small actions can lead to big changes in environmental preservation.
Dhavrukh NGO, based in Mandre, Goa, was established in 2017 by a group of like-minded youths. Their inaugural event, held on World Environment Day, saw the planting of 35 saplings at a barren hill in Mandre Village. Since then, the NGO has planted nearly 30,000 trees across Goa, significantly contributing to the region's environmental welfare. In addition to tree plantation, Dhavrukh’s Bhu Jal Sanvardhan initiative has focused on groundwater conservation, with over 70 shallow aquifer recharge units installed across eight talukas in Goa and one project in Maharashtra.
Operating primarily through self-funding and volunteer contributions, Dhavrukh has garnered support from individuals and institutions over the years, with many stepping forward to offer financial assistance and volunteer for its various programs. The continued success of the NGO serves as a testament to the power of community involvement and the lasting impact that collective efforts can have on the environment.
With the support of people like Shri. Devendra Prabhu Desai and Shri. Kapil Kishor Korgaonkar, Dhavrukh NGO continues to make strides in its mission to protect the environment and conserve natural resources, proving that grassroots organizations are vital to the sustainable future of our planet.
President of DHAVRUKH, Assistant Professor Rudresh Uttam Mhamal, shared with the dignitaries the vision of Dhavrukh and provided detailed insights into various initiatives undertaken by DHAVRUKH and its volunteers. Volunteers Vinaykumar Kushvaha, Vaishnavi Methar, Pranav Methar, and Viraj Mhamal were also present at the event.
