The World Down Syndrome Day 2026 was commemorated on 24.03.2026 with great enthusiasm and compassion by the Department of Occupational Therapy in the institute, in the gracious presence of beneficiaries, their caregivers, students and staff members. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing hope, positivity, and inclusivity, followed by a warm and inspiring welcome address by the HOD (OT). The celebration featured a series of thoughtfully organized activities for the beneficiaries, including a drawing competition, vibrant cultural performances, and a joyful musical chair event involving Down syndrome beneficiaries.
The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing and appreciating the efforts and achievements of the beneficiaries. A total of 59 beneficiaries and their caregivers, 25 staff members, 35 BOT students attended the program and made it meaningful and memorable.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Gunjan Wadhwa, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and supporters for their valuable contribution in making the event a success.

अमृत उद्यान, राष्ट्रपति भवन में दिव्यांगजनों हेतु विशेष दर्शन भ्रमण
यह आपके संज्ञान में लाया जाता है कि दिनांक 13 मार्च 2026 को राष्ट्रपति भवन, नई दिल्ली स्थित अमृत उद्यान दिव्यांगजनों के लिए विशेष रूप से खोला जाएगा। जिसमें DEPwD नोडल विभाग के तौर पर दिव्यांगजनों को राष्ट्रपति भ्रमण के लिए सुगमता प्रदान कर रहा है जिसके भ्रमण ओर दर्शन का समय प्रातः 10:00 बजे से सायं 5:00 बजे तक रहेगा।

इस अवसर पर अनुमानित रूप से 10,000 से अधिक दिव्यांगजन अमृत उद्यान का भ्रमण करेंगे।

जिसमें समावेशिता, उत्साह और एकता का एक यादगार संदेश दिया जाता है । यह उत्सव दिव्यांगजन (PwDs) के समर्पण और प्रतिभा का जश्न मना जाता है — जहाँ हर प्रतिभा को सम्मान मिलता है और हर बाधा को मिलकर चुनौती दी जाती है।

क्या खास होगा:
– समावेशी व्यवस्थाएँ — सुगमता और सुविधा का पूरा ध्यान।
– सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुतियाँ — कला और संगीत के जरिए आत्मविश्वास और रचनात्मकता का प्रदर्शन।
– एकता का संदेश — विविधता में एकता; हर आवाज़ का सम्मान।

यह सिर्फ एक कार्यक्रम नहीं, बल्कि एक भावना है: दिव्यांगता बाधा नहीं, विविधता का हिस्सा है।

आइए मिलकर एक ऐसा समाज बनाएं जहाँ हर व्यक्ति को बराबरी, सम्मान और अवसर मिले।

The Asperger’s Day Celebration was organized by the Occupational Therapy Department in the institute with the presence of faculty members and students. The program commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting. This was followed by an informative and insightful speech by Dr. Santosh Kumar, Director, Chetna Foundation who highlighted the importance of early identification, diagnostic criteria, challenges, acceptance, and inclusivity of children with Asperger’s Syndrome. This was followed by, an engaging spot quiz competition for students of BOT & BPT. A total of 230 members attended the program including staff and students.

पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय राष्ट्रीय शारीरिक दिव्यांगजन संस्थान (PDUNIPPD) ने हिंदी भवन, नई दिल्ली में अपने #50वें #स्थापना_दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में एक गरिमामयी उदघाटन समारोह आयोजित किया। #डॉ_वीरेंद्र_कुमार, केन्द्रीय सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्री इस कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अथिति के तौर पर सम्मिलित हुए। इस अवसर पर दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, संस्थान के संकाय सदस्य, व्यावसायिक एवं अन्य स्टाफ, छात्र-छात्राएँ तथा लाभार्थी भी बड़ी संख्या में उपस्थित रहे।
सर्वप्रथम संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. जितेन्द्र शर्मा ने स्वागत संबोधन में संस्थान की 50 वर्षों की उपलब्धियों और दिव्यांगजन पुनर्वास के क्षेत्र में निभाई गई महत्वपूर्ण भूमिकाओं पर प्रकाश डाला। इसके पश्चात दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण विभाग के संयुक्त सचिव श्री राजीव शर्मा ने अपने संबोधन में दिव्यांगजन सशक्तिकरण के लिए चल रही विभिन्न सरकारी पहलों और योजनाओं के बारे में जानकारी देते हुए उनके कार्यान्वयन में संस्थान के योगदान की सराहना की। अंत में मुख्य अतिथि डॉ. वीरेन्द्र कुमार, माननीय केन्द्रीय सामाजिक न्याय एवं अधिकारिता मंत्री ने अपने सन्देश में दिव्यांगजनों के लिए समावेशी और सशक्त समाज के निर्माण के प्रति सरकार की प्रतिबद्धता दोहराई तथा संस्थान की पाँच दशकों की उत्कृष्ट सेवाओं की प्रशंसा की। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि दिव्यांगजन पुनर्वास के क्षेत्र में कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता की बड़ी भूमिका हो सकती है। उन्होंने सुझाव दिया कि दिल्ली में चल रहे ए आई समिट में संस्थान के पुनर्वास पेशेवरों को भी शामिल होना चाहिए ताकि भविष्य की तकनीक से वे परिचित हो सकें।
इस अवसर पर संस्थान द्वारा 50वें स्थापना वर्ष का स्मारक लोगो लॉन्च किया गया, जो संस्थान की गौरवशाली यात्रा और भविष्य की प्रतिबद्धता का प्रतीक है। इसके साथ ही एक ई कॉफ़ी टेबल बुक का भी विमोचन किया गया जिसमें तस्वीरों, पूर्व छात्रों और कर्मचारियों के संदेशों के माध्यम से संस्थान के इतिहास को संजोया गया है। इस अवसर पर संस्थान के पूर्व छात्रों और एम्बेसडर्स को सम्मानित किया गया।

Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDUNIPPD) celebrated its 3rd Convocation Ceremony today, December 19. During the event, 150 students graduating in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) took a solemn oath to maintain integrity and dedication in their profession.
Shri B.L. Verma, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, who was the chief guest, congratulated the new graduates and suggested that the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities should be treated as a spirit of service rather than just a profession.
Ms. Richa Shankar, Deputy Director General, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). She emphasized that the Ministry is committed to providing maximum facilities for the disabled and developing human resources in the field of rehabilitation. She noted that all National Institutes and Composite Regional Centres (CRCs) are being continuously upgraded to achieve this goal.
During his welcome address, the Director of the Institute, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, stated that the institute has always prioritized the quality of services and facilities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). He noted that this is proven by the fact that the Ministry has designated the institute as a 'Centre for Excellence'. Furthermore, he highlighted that the institute has consistently secured the first rank in the IIRF rankings for the past three years.
The musical band from Banasthali Vidyapith, Tonk, Rajasthan, captivated the audience with their soulful melodies.
