Job Vacancy at the Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai: Senior Clerk (Politics)
1. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Researching, monitoring and reporting on current political issues in the region (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Goa).
Writing analysis reports on key thematic issues relevant to internal politics in the region.
Creating and maintaining a strong network of contacts by building relationships with government officials, political parties, and civil society to build in-depth knowledge of the regional political scene.
Provide support to additional ad hoc requirements for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (e.g. Supporting visits to Mumbai).
2. The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills (It is desirable to have Japanese communication skills as well).
A degree in a relevant discipline, such as political science.
In-depth knowledge of politics, civil society in the region.
Minimum two years of experience of working in a related field.
The ability to be a team player, flexible, and work to tight deadlines.
3. Type of Position: Full-time in Politics Division

4. Start Dates: 1st May, 2024 (tentative)

5. Employment Period: 2 years (including a 3-month probationary period, and the employment period can be extended depending on work performance)

6. Starting Salary (estimated): INR 90,000～110,000

Position: Receptionist/Consular Assistant

Organization: Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore, Mumbai

One of the key roles of the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai is to provide excellent service to callers and visitors as well as efficient and responsive consular advice to Singaporeans in India.

We are committed to helping our staff reach their potential while working towards the main outcomes of the organization. We seek a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to be part of our team.

Responsibilities:

As Receptionist/Consular Assistant, you will be given the opportunity for job rotation. As a Receptionist, you will be responsible for answering phone calls and managing the Consulate-General's primary email account. Being the first point of contact for the public, you will be required to provide accurate and timely information on general enquiries. You will also greet visitors to the Consulate-General and cover the duties of the Senior Administrative Officer whenever necessary. As a Consular Assistant, you will assist the Consular Team in providing consular advice to Singaporeans in India and visitors to Singapore.

Requirements:

This position requires candidates to be proficient in both written and spoken English and Hindi. You will need to multi-task, have an eye for detail and be a good team player capable of working independently. This position will also require you to exhibit tact and diplomacy when interacting with the public. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required. Prior experience relating to receptionist/customer service role is preferred, although not mandatory as there will be on the job training.

Benefits:

Basic Salary – Approximately INR 242,000 per annum

Office Hours - 5 Days Work Week (Monday to Friday)
