A week-long Workshop on Vetting and Finalization of Grammatical Sketches in South-Munda Languages is being held from 04–10 March 2026 at the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru, with Prof. Arun Ghosh serving as the expert for the workshop.

The workshop focuses on reviewing the grammatical sketches prepared by the South-Munda team of SPPEL for several South-Munda languages including Gorum/Parenga, Gta?/Didayi, Gutob-Gadaba, Sora, Remo/Bonda, and Juang. During the sessions, different domains of grammatical analysis are being carefully examined, and the expert’s valuable suggestions and feedback are being noted and incorporated to refine and finalize the sketches.

This important initiative is organized under the Scheme for Protection and Preservation of Endangered Languages (SPPEL) at the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, contributing significantly to the documentation, preservation, and promotion of endangered linguistic heritage.

Every documented language is a step toward preserving culture, identity, and knowledge for future generations.

Unity in Diversity: Pongal Festivities at CIIL Mysuru!

The CIIL Mysuru campus transformed into a vibrant landscape of tradition on 12th January 2026, as we celebrated Pongal! It was a magnificent confluence of language, heritage, and community spirit, bringing our staff together to honor the season of gratitude.

The heart of the celebration was the traditional preparation of the Pongal. As the rice and jaggery simmered, the air was filled with the sweet aroma of abundance. When the earthen pot finally boiled over, creamy Pongal bubbled and overflowed, signaling a season of abundance! the spirited cries of "Pongalo Pongal!" echoed through the institute, offering a beautiful glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of Tamil Nadu.

The festivities reached new heights with a series of traditional competitions organised for our dedicated staff. The grace and enthusiasm displayed by every participant captivated the audience and truly brought the campus to life!

A heartfelt thank you to all the organisers and participants for making this celebration a grand success. May this season bring sweetness, prosperity, and joy to all!
