The Government of Arunachal Pradesh is set to convene a high-level consultative meeting on May 27 at the State Banquet Hall, Niti Vihar, to deliberate on issues relating to the protection of indigenous tribal rights, the Inner Line Permit (ILP) framework, and Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) matters.
The meeting will be chaired by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and is expected to bring together a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including Community-Based Organisations (CBOs), student bodies, legal experts, civil society organisations, social activists, and concerned representatives from across the state.
According to official information, the consultative meeting aims to facilitate an open and comprehensive discussion on growing concerns surrounding the ILP system, indigenous safeguards, tribal identity protection, and APST-related issues that have recently sparked widespread public debate and protests in the state.
The development comes amid increasing demands from Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee (ASTBAC), for stronger implementation and digital strengthening of the ILP mechanism, stricter verification of APST certificates, and enhanced legal safeguards for indigenous tribal communities.
The outcome of the meeting is likely to play a significant role in shaping future policy decisions concerning ILP enforcement, APST certification procedures, and long-term safeguards for the indigenous communities of Arunachal Pradesh.
