Strengthening pedestrian safety on NH-48
NHAI awards project for construction of 6 Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) on Achhad–Dahisar section of NH-48 in Maharashtra ensuring safer and more convenient movement for pedestrians.
These facilities will help reduce unsafe road crossings, enhance pedestrian safety and provide improved accessibility for local communities.

NHAI strengthens road safety across Maharashtra and Goa with targeted interventions at 151 vulnerable locations.
Based on accident data and field assessments, safety measures including crash barriers, improved signage, thermoplastic road markings, delineators, solar blinkers and rumble strips are being implemented to enhance visibility, traffic guidance and overall commuter safety.
Safer roads. Safer journeys. Stronger highways.

NHAI would like to clarify that all necessary safety protocols are already in place at the site. Despite heavy rains, the work is being carried out lane-by-lane to maintain traffic movement, with 24×7 deployment of safety wardens, barricades and blinkers to ensure the safety of commuters and workers.

The Old Versova 2-lane Bridge is over 30 years old and its expansion joints are being replaced due to wear from prolonged use and heavy traffic. One joint has been replaced; the second is expected by month end.

NHAI is closely monitoring the ongoing work and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols throughout the repair process.

NHAI appeals to the public to refrain from sharing or believing such misleading posts and to rely only on verified and official information.

Advancing highway maintenance with modern technology.

NHAI has deployed an Automatic Mechanized Road Sweeper on the Govindpur (MH/TG Border) – Rajura section of NH-353B in Maharashtra under PIU Chandrapur. This initiative ensures cleaner highways, efficient maintenance operations and enhanced safety for commuters.

To ensure the safety and convenience of road users during the monsoon season, PIU Pune under NHAI RO Mumbai has strengthened its Emergency Incident Management (EIM) system across the Pune – Satara Section of NH-48.

A robust network of 20 ambulances, 5 cranes, 4 route patrol vehicles, 34 nearby hospitals and 12 fire brigade stations has been mobilized to provide prompt assistance during accidents, vehicle breakdowns, waterlogging and other emergencies. Close coordination has also been established with Police, Fire Services and healthcare institutions to ensure swift response and effective traffic management during adverse weather conditions.

These proactive measures are aimed at enhancing road user safety, minimizing disruptions and ensuring smooth and seamless travel throughout the monsoon season.

Rajasthan's Barrier-Free Tolling Journey Continues!

After the successful rollout of Rajastha's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at Daulatpura toll plaza in June 2026, NHAI today successfully launched MLFF tolling system at Manoharpura Toll Plaza on Delhi–Jaipur section of NH-48.

Following implementation at Manoharpura, NHAI is also planning the transition of toll plaza at Shahjahanpur to the MLFF system, making commuting on the busy Delhi - Jaipur section seamless and barrier-free.

The MLFF system combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology with -based Electronic Toll Collection, enabling vehicles to pass through toll locations without stopping, ensuring seamless traffic flow, reduced waiting time, improved fuel efficiency and lower vehicular emissions - building a modern, efficient and transparent tolling ecosystem.
