Ummeed

Ummeed A program to empower economically backward women in Jamia, New Delhi. Ummeed's aim is to help women become strong, confident, and economically independent.

Ummeed is a non-profit that was founded in 2012 to empower economically backward women in Delhi's Jamia area by providing them with electric rickshaws to drive. Over the years, the program has gone through a number of changes. Some additional programs organized by Ummeed include a football match between Jamia's girls football team and the Modern School Barakhamba Road girls' team to boost confiden

ce and sportsman spirit, a fashion show that allowed these girls to walk down the ramp hand-in-hand and feel like rock stars for a night, a program that helped young girls from Jamia obtain driving licenses which would enable them to go on to become taxi drivers, and multiple english speaking and skill learning classes. Ummeed's newest program is the Big Sib mentorship program.
