How are the uniforms of an air force pilot different from an air force ground duty officer?
The only difference is a “wing” that the pilot would wear on the left chest just above the pocket.
Associated with some higher qualifications that a pilot attains, a small metallic wing (bird) would be worn on the left pocket and some stars (upto a maximum of three) on the right pocket. See the image below for reference.
These three things can never be on the uniform of a ground duties branch officer.

What are the things I need to know about the Indian Army before going for an SSB interview? Where can I learn about the various procurements, arms, services, etc.?
Remember these three points before starting your preparation for SSB.
No amount of extra curricular activities or achievements in your school/college life can guarantee you success in SSB. It is your personality and your attitude towards the things around you that will get you through.
SSB is based on OLQ’s (Officer Like Qualities) but that does not mean you need to have all of them and portray them. Most of them are developed during training. So, do not crack your head up over them.
Take it step by step. First clear your written and then focus on SSB. 2–3 months is more than enough to prepare. Remember, no amount of coaching or training can change your personality. It has to be a conscious effort from within over a long period of time.
In the recently released NDA merit list, four candidates who followed these points after a lengthy discussion with me came in the top 50 AIR.
I did not coach them. I just told them the truth and they followed it.
That is what everyone needs to do instead of blindly following everyone.

What are the things one must know before joining the Indian Army as an officer?
Ok. Here. For all youngsters. For all the dare devils ready to kill enemies and serve the nation. I have shown you positive side of the coin in 150+ answers written by me.
This time let me give you the flip side of the coin so you don’t complain later that this was not your piece of cake and nobody told you about it earlier. Purpose is not to discourage you but to help you to make an informed decision.
Leave: Leave is not a right in armed forces. You might get denied a leave even if you have sufficient leave left for the year.
Rayban: This is not how you go in parties or look at the place of duty. Senior officers attend parties and so junior officers are required to follow the decorum and maintain dignity and sanity of the forces. When seniors are around, junior officers are required to look like Lion Cubs and Lions themselves. Rayban is not seen in good light by the seniors when you are in front of them. And you are not given a choice to attend parties. You WILL HAVE TO ATTEND every party of the unit.
Freedom: You loose your right to freedom, freedom of speech and other similar rights available to a common citizen of the country. You just cannot speak anything in front of anyone. You will be taken seriously for any un-officer like behavior because you will not only degrade your name but the name of the organization as well. You cannot just pick fights in the street for silly reasons or break rules and cross traffic signals. In addition to the challan, you will get doubly punished by your CO for breaking the country rules if he gets to know about it.
Resignation: You cannot leave or resign army at your will. It doesn’t work that way. Only applications of extreme compassionate nature and that too after proper scrutiny are allowed. You can easily resign from any other service in India but not from army because army spends a lot in your training and it also creates a void in the organization which is a compromise to the nation’s safety.
Emotions: There will be days when there will be no communication between you and your family because you’ll be in an area where there’s no network. You’ll loose many of your dear friends and batch mates every year to war or technical failures. You’ll have to learn to live by that.
The ultimate sacrifice and aftermath: You should also know how your families are left in tears and how they feel about you once you are gone from this world in service of your nation. Many soldiers die every year and putting RIP or Jai Hind on Facebook/Watsapp will be the end of social responsibility of most of your countrymen. Nobody comes to help or see your kids after few months when you are gone. Tell me frankly, do you know any of the children of a martyred soldier? What they are doing now? You should know that your family will be left on their own once you are gone. During wars, everybody becomes patriotic and demands fighting, national emotions go high, and taking an anti-war position is often misconstrued as being unpatriotic. But once it is over and you lay your life for them, your glory will be remembered only by your family members and through the polished brass and military ribbons at home. This is a harsh reality.
I am telling you all this, so that you can choose and make a decision because once you are IN, you must forget all this and serve your nation.

Sierra Squadron for Females at National Defence Academy
At present, a total of eighteen squadrons exist at the National Defence Academy. A separate squadron for females, named “Sierra”, was proposed but was soon scrapped.
In compliance with the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court, the UPSC released a notice allowing females to appear for the NDA 2 2021 exam.
All the eligibility criteria remain the same for the male candidates.
Health and physical standards, infrastructure for females at the National Defence Academy, strength intake, nature of training and medical standards were left to be decided by the Ministry of Defence.
