Two Booked for Assault, Outraging Modesty and Criminal Intimidation in Nuvem

Following a complaint lodged by a woman from Belgavi, Karnataka, police have registered a case against two accused persons in connection with an incident reported at Rumder, Nuvem on July 10, 2024.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly assaulted the complainant, used criminal force against her with intent to outrage her modesty, verbally abused her using offensive language, and allegedly issued threats.

Police stated that further investigation in the case is being carried out by ASI Hemant Gaude of MCPS.

42 Buildings Declared Unsafe in Mapusa Ahead of Monsoon; Notices Issued to Occupants

Ahead of the monsoon season, authorities in Mapusa have identified 42 buildings as unsafe following a joint inspection drive led by Bardez Deputy Collector Varsha Parab. The list includes 35 privately owned structures and seven government buildings.

Officials stated that notices have been issued to occupants and property owners, directing them to vacate the premises or undertake necessary safety measures to avoid accidents during heavy rainfall.

The inspection was carried out jointly by the Mapusa Municipal Council and the Public Works Department (PWD), with structural assessments conducted on ageing and weakened buildings across the city to reduce risks during the monsoon period.

Goa Strengthens Water Transport Preparedness Ahead of Monsoon; Water Metro Plan Under Review

Goa’s Water Resources Minister Subhash Phal Dessai assured that ferry services across the state will continue without disruption during the monsoon season, stating that all required preparations and operational measures are already in place to ensure smooth public transport.

At the same time, the government is reviewing the proposed Kerala-style Water Metro project for Goa, with a focus on efficient implementation and expert assessment to develop a modern and sustainable water transport network suited to the state’s river systems.

The initiatives aim to improve public convenience, maintain reliable ferry connectivity, and strengthen Goa’s long-term water transport infrastructure.

Air Pollution Monitoring Equipment Worth ₹16 Lakh Stolen from GSPCB Facility in Mormugao

A theft case has been registered at Mormugao Police Station following a complaint filed by Anthony Miranda, Junior Laboratory Assistant of the Goa State Pollution Control Board.

According to the complaint, between 15 May 2026 at around 9:15 AM and 20 May 2026 at around 10:00 AM, unknown person(s) allegedly broke open the lock of the terrace door at MPA Quarters near Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, Mormugao, and stole five air quality monitoring machines belonging to the Goa State Pollution Control Board.

The stolen equipment includes two Respirable Dust Samplers and three Fine Particulate Samplers, collectively valued at approximately ₹16 lakh.

Mormugao Police have registered the case and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Stanley Gomes of Mormugao Police Station.

Woman Booked for Allegedly Using False Identity at Goa Airport During DRI Investigation Based on a complaint filed by Sarvesh Kumar Kushwaha, Intelligence Officer, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Goa Regional Unit, a woman identified as Olivia Lalchawimawii, a resident of Mizoram, has been accused of allegedly impersonating another person during official proceedings at Goa International Airport, Dabolim. According to the complaint, on 25 March 2026 at the Customs Office at Goa International Airport, the accused, who had been apprehended in connection with an offence under the NDPS Act, 1985, allegedly identified herself as “Ms. Lallawmzuali” and produced an Aadhaar card and boarding pass bearing that name. Authorities claim she had travelled using the said identity instead of her actual name, Olivia Lalchawimawii, during DRI case formalities. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Smita Morajkar of Dabolim Airport Police Station.

42nd Mines Safety Week 2025-26 Concludes in Goa

The Final Day Function of the 42nd Mines Safety Week 2025-26 was held in Goa under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) and hosted by Fomento Resources Private Limited. The programme focused on promoting workplace safety, accident prevention, and zero-harm practices in the mining industry.
Shri Ramawatar Meena, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, Western Zone, Nagpur, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Shri Ramesh Walikar, Shri Aftab Ahmad, Shri P.K. Jain, Shri T. Srinivas, Shri Rajiv Kumar, Shri Dhirajkumar Jagdish, and Shri Sandeep Morajkar.
Around 50 mines from Goa, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Raigad, and Ratnagiri participated in the celebrations, which featured seminars, trade tests, and first-aid competitions to spread awareness about mine safety and best practices.

Man Booked for Sexual Exploitation on False Promise of Marriage in Mandrem
Mapusa, May 1, 2026:
A case has been registered at the local police station following a complaint by a woman resident of Siolim, originally from Madhya Pradesh, alleging sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage.
According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Puneet Kakkar (39), allegedly engaged in a relationship with the complainant between November 23, 2024, and February 3, 2026, at a location in Ashvem, Mandrem. During this period, he is accused of establishing physical relations with her on the promise of marriage.
The complainant has further alleged that when she became pregnant, the accused forced her to terminate the pregnancy and later failed to fulfill his promise of marriage. It is also alleged that the accused recorded private photos and videos of the complainant without her consent during their relationship.
Police have registered an offence in connection with the matter, and further investigation is currently underway under PSI Paresh S. Kale.
