RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

A three-day Exposure Visit and Training Programme for fisherwomen from Puducherry was successfully conducted from 17–19 June 2026 by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, in coordination with MPEDA NETFISH and CIFNET, Tamil Nadu.

A total of 30 fisherwomen participated in the programme. The visit began with an exposure visit to Abad Seafood Exports, Irungattukottai, where participants gained firsthand insights into modern seafood processing, quality standards, and export practices.

Programme Highlights:
• Value addition training on fish and seafood products
• Practical sessions on processing, preservation, and product diversification
• Square mesh fabrication training by CIFNET for sustainable fishing practices
• Interactive sessions on entrepreneurship and livelihood enhancement

Key Outcomes:
• Enhanced knowledge of modern seafood processing and export standards
• Improved skills in fish value addition techniques
• Capacity building on sustainable fishing practices through square mesh fabrication
• Strengthened entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities for fisherwomen

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

A three-day Exposure Visit and Programme for fisherwomen from Karaikal was successfully conducted from 03–05 June 2026 by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Karaikal, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, in coordination with MPEDA NETFISH & CIFNET Tamil Nadu.

A total of 31 fisherwomen participants took part in the programme. The programme commenced with an exposure visit to Abad Seafood Exports, Irungattukottai, where participants gained firsthand exposure to modern seafood processing practices, quality standards, and export procedures.

The training programme included:
• Value Addition Training on fish and seafood products
• Practical sessions on processing, preservation, and product diversification
• Square Mesh Fabrication Training conducted by CIFNET to promote sustainable fishing practices
• Interactive sessions on entrepreneurship and livelihood enhancement opportunities

The programme enabled fisherwomen to acquire practical knowledge on seafood value addition, modern processing techniques, and sustainable fishing practices. It also strengthened their entrepreneurial capabilities and enhanced their livelihood prospects through improved market-oriented skills.

RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

The Awareness Creation Workshop on Branding & Marketing and the Workshop on Product Labelling, Packaging & Promotion for Rural MSMEs were successfully conducted on 29 & 30 May 2026 at Karaikal BDO, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, with support from the World Bank.

The programmes were jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

A total of 57 MSME participants attended the Branding & Marketing Workshop, while 52 MSME participants took part in the Product Labelling, Packaging & Promotion Workshop.

The Awareness Creation Workshop on Branding & Marketing and the Workshop on Product Labelling, Packaging & Promotion for Rural MSMEs were successfully conducted on 26 & 27 May 2026 at Karikalampakkam BDO, Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, with support from the World Bank.

The programmes were jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026: Creating a Stronger Environment for MSMEs

The MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 brings forward important changes to make it easier for MSMEs to register, operate, receive payments and resolve business-related disputes.

The proposed reforms strengthen the Udyam Portal as a permanent digital platform for MSME registration and introduce a clearer classification system based on investment and turnover. The Bill also promotes faster invoice settlement through TReDS, strengthens mechanisms for recovering delayed payments, and supports quicker resolution of disputes through Facilitation Councils.

With improved payment mechanisms, stronger institutional support and a simpler approach to penalties, the amendments aim to build greater confidence among MSMEs and create a more business-friendly ecosystem for their growth.

An International Exposure Visit for 18 Food Sector MSMEs from Puducherry was successfully conducted from 25–31 May 2026 to Thailand and Malaysia under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme. The programme was jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

The exposure visit aimed to enhance the global competitiveness, export readiness, and market awareness of food entrepreneurs through international industry exposure and business networking.

Programme Highlights:
▪ Participation in THAIFEX ANUGA 2026, one of Asia's largest food and beverage trade exhibitions
▪ Interactions with the Indian Embassy in Thailand, High Commission of India in Malaysia, India-Thai Chamber of Commerce (ITCC), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

A two-day Capacity Building Programme for Government Officials was successfully conducted at Residency Towers, Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, with support from the World Bank.

The programme was organised in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

A total of 39 Government officials participated in the programme, which focused on enhancing administrative, legal, and governance capabilities through sessions on:

▪ Counter Affidavit and RTI
▪ Environmental Law and Management
▪ Industrial Guidance Bureau and Ease of Doing Business (EoDB)
▪ AI Governance and Government Administration

The programme provided a valuable platform for officials to strengthen their knowledge of legal frameworks, governance practices, emerging technologies, and industry facilitation mechanisms, thereby contributing to more effective public service delivery and MSME ecosystem development.

The programmes were jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

As part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, Free Energy and Water Audits are being conducted for MSMEs in Puducherry.

The initiative is jointly organised by the National Productivity Council (NPC) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) to help MSMEs identify opportunities for resource conservation, improve operational efficiency, and reduce production costs through expert assessment and recommendations.
