RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments
A three-day Exposure Visit and Training Programme for fisherwomen from Puducherry was successfully conducted from 17–19 June 2026 by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, in coordination with MPEDA NETFISH and CIFNET, Tamil Nadu.
A total of 30 fisherwomen participated in the programme. The visit began with an exposure visit to Abad Seafood Exports, Irungattukottai, where participants gained firsthand insights into modern seafood processing, quality standards, and export practices.
Programme Highlights:
• Value addition training on fish and seafood products
• Practical sessions on processing, preservation, and product diversification
• Square mesh fabrication training by CIFNET for sustainable fishing practices
• Interactive sessions on entrepreneurship and livelihood enhancement
Key Outcomes:
• Enhanced knowledge of modern seafood processing and export standards
• Improved skills in fish value addition techniques
• Capacity building on sustainable fishing practices through square mesh fabrication
• Strengthened entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities for fisherwomen
The programme empowered participants with practical skills and industry exposure, contributing to sustainable livelihoods and strengthening the fisheries value chain under the RAMP initiative.
