RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

The 2nd International Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) held in Puducherry on 17th and 18th March 2026 emerged as a highly successful international trade promotion initiative, generating strong business opportunities for MSMEs in Puducherry.

The event was jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Southern Region and Puducherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme, supported by the World Bank. This marked the second RBSM organised in Puducherry under the RAMP initiative.

The programme successfully brought together:

• 21 overseas buyers
• 12 participating countries
• 194 MSMEs from Puducherry

The event created a vibrant platform for direct B2B interactions, export promotion, market intelligence sharing, and business networking. Over the two days, structured buyer–seller meetings resulted in the signing of 66 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a total indicative business value of ₹8.88 crore, along with spot orders and advance payments received by participating MSMEs.

The RBSM also featured capacity-building sessions, an Export Support Help Desk, and a Valedictory Session, making it a comprehensive export promotion and market access initiative for the MSME sector of Puducherry.

RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

A one-day Capacity Development Programme for the Plastic Sector (MSMEs) was successfully conducted on 12 March 2026 at the Pondicherry Chamber of Industries, PIPDIC Industrial Estate, Mettupalayam, Puducherry.

The programme was jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and PIPDIC Limited, Government of Puducherry, with the objective of strengthening technical capabilities and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices among MSMEs in the plastic sector.

A total of 42 participants, including plastic manufacturers, entrepreneurs, machine operators, and technical professionals, actively took part in the programme.
The sessions focused on enhancing industrial productivity and technological adoption through:

• Injection moulding techniques and best practices
• Circular economy approaches in the plastic sector
• Tooling and mould maintenance for improved efficiency
• PLC and robotics applications for industrial automation

The programme provided a valuable platform for industry stakeholders to upgrade technical knowledge, improve operational efficiency, and adopt modern manufacturing practices supporting the growth and competitiveness of MSMEs.

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

The Innovative Projects – Advancing the Value Chain of Fisheries Industries of the RAMP Programme, a three-day Awareness Programme on Safety at Sea, Communication & Navigation Equipment, Troubleshooting and Maintenance of OBM was successfully conducted from 11–13 March 2026 at the Department of Fisheries & Fishermen Welfare, Karaikal.

A total of 75 participants took part in the programme, strengthening their technical knowledge and safety preparedness for marine operations.

The training sessions were delivered by faculty from ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (ICAR–CIFNET), Chennai:

• Mr. N.R. Antony Rejoy (Seamanship & Navigation)
• Mr. C. Vinoth Kumar (Welder)

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

Under the Innovative Projects – Advancing the Value Chain of Fisheries Industries of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme, a two-day workshop on “Women Fisheries Co-operatives Management and Entrepreneurship Development” was successfully conducted on 09 & 10 March 2025 in Karaikal.

The programme was organised by the Department of Fisheries & Fishermen Welfare, Karaikal, with the objective of strengthening women-led fisheries co-operatives through capacity building and entrepreneurship development.

A total of 30 fisher women actively participated in the workshop, which focused on enhancing knowledge and practical skills in:

• Co-operative management, governance, and financial bookkeeping
• Entrepreneurship development and fisheries-based enterprises
• Marketing, branding, packaging, and use of digital tools
• Exposure visits to Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam, a value-added processing unit for practical industry learning

This initiative marked an important step towards empowering women in the fisheries sector, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and fostering inclusive economic growth under the RAMP Programme.

RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

The Entrepreneurs’ Inspiring Session on Branding & Marketing (Special Full-Day Programme in Celebration of International Women’s Day 2026)’ was successfully conducted on 08 March 2026 at the District Industries Centre (DIC), Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

The programme was jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad and Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC), Government of Puducherry, with the objective of empowering women entrepreneurs by strengthening their branding, marketing, and market access capabilities.

A total of 72 women entrepreneurs, actively took part in the programme, which covered key aspects to support business growth and competitiveness, including:
• Brand building and storytelling for market expansion
• Modern and eco-friendly packaging techniques
• Labelling standards including FSSAI, barcoding, and legal compliance
• Networking opportunities and recognition of women entrepreneurs

RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

The ‘One-Day Capacity Building Programme on Water Audit and Water-Energy Saving Opportunities in MSME Units’ was successfully conducted on 04 March 2026 at Hotel Le Royale Palace, Karaikal, Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
The programme was jointly organised by the National Productivity Council (NPC) and Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC), aiming to enhance awareness and technical understanding of efficient water management practices among MSMEs.

A total of 42 MSME representatives actively participated in the programme, which focused on promoting sustainable industrial operations through:
▪ Introduction to water auditing concepts and importance
▪ Water audit methodologies and assessment techniques
▪ Identification of water and energy saving opportunities
▪ Case studies and best practices in resource efficiency

RAMP Journey: A Path of Progress

The Second Vendor Development Program for MSMEs of Puducherry was successfully conducted on 27 February 2026, at Hotel Atithi, Puducherry under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

The programme was Jointly organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC).

The event witnessed active participation from 205 MSMEs and senior officials representing leading PSUs such as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

The programme served as a dynamic platform for MSMEs to:
▪ Connect directly with PSUs and key buyers
▪ Gain guidance on vendor registration with government procurement systems
▪ Understand quality certification, standards, and compliance requirements
▪ Build capacity in tendering, GeM portal usage, and procurement processes

RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

The ‘Food Festival, Cultural Activities, and Beach Sport Activities 2026’ was successfully conducted on 19–28 February 2026 at the Old Port MICE Pavilion, Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, creating a vibrant platform to promote local food entrepreneurs while engaging visitors through coastal sports and cultural experiences.

The event was organised by Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC), the Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Government of India.
The festival brought together home chefs, MSME food entrepreneurs, and local vendors, showcasing a wide variety of traditional, regional, millet-based, seafood, street food, and organic cuisines. Alongside the food festival, beach sport activities and cultural performances and public participation, attracting tourists, residents, families, and youth, making the event a complete culinary, cultural, and recreational attraction.

Key Highlights:

▪ Promotion of regional cuisines and traditional food culture
▪ Cultural activities showcasing local art, music, and performances
