Shashwat Sinhagad

Shashwat Sinhagad Sinhagad is our pride! We're here to share how we can be sustainable tourists and protect our preci Pune is also known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra.

Sinhagad (The Lion's Fort) is a fort located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Pune, India. Strategically located at the centre of a string of other forts such as Rajgad, Purandar and Torna, the fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670. Being a place of historical importance, its hills attract trek lovers in huge numbers. It is a po

pular weekend destination for many residents of Pune, thus giving rise to tourism. Naturally, one would expect the citizens of Pune to act responsibly as tourists too. And here comes the idea of 'sustainable tourism' which is the concept of visiting a place as a tourist and trying to make only a positive impact on the environment, society and economy - what we exactly need to preserve our precious heritage site! We want to promote sustainable tourism in Sinhagad and the area around to make it Shashwat Gad - the Sustainable Fort.
