Poisoned, Paws Chopped and Killed

Two young tiger siblings… just 2 years old.
A brother and a sister.

Born in the wild forests of Uttarakhand… raised by a mother who taught them how to survive… how to hunt… how to live free.

But they never got the chance to grow up.

Poisoned.
Killed.
And mutilated so brutally that even hardened forest officials were left shattered.

Their tiny paws were chopped off.
Their bodies hidden near a poisoned buffalo carcass used as bait.

This was not just revenge.
This was planned poaching.

And somewhere in those forests tonight… a mother tigress is still searching for her cubs.
Calling for them.
Waiting for them to respond.

But they never will.

With these two cubs gone, an entire bloodline has been wiped out forever.

What makes this tragedy even darker is that it happened in one of India’s most critical tiger corridors — a forest that connects the future of Rajaji’s tiger population.

For years, forests survived because humans protected them.
But today, greed is entering deeper into the jungle than ever before.

A tiger is not just an animal.
It is the soul of our forests.
And when a tiger dies like this… the jungle loses a part of its heartbeat.

Justice must not stop at arrests.
This should become a turning point in India’s fight against wildlife crime.

Because if we fail our tigers…
we fail our forests.
And if forests disappear… humanity won’t survive either.

💔 A Heartbreaking Day for Conservation: We Have Lost Mahavir (T-220) 💔
Our hearts are heavy today as we share the devastating news from Kanha National Park. The legendary male tiger, Mahavir (T-220), is no more. His carcass was recovered by forest officials from the Mohgaon beat of the Mukki range, marking an incredibly dark chapter for India’s wildlife.

🐅 The Fatal Clash
Mahavir’s death comes after a severe, brutal territorial fight on May 4, 2026, with another male tiger, the Digdola Male. While the Digdola male died on the spot during the clash, Mahavir sustained catastrophic injuries. Weakened and hurting, he eventually succumbed to his wounds before patrolling teams could locate and intervene.

⚠️ The Grim Reality: Tigers Need More Area
We have said it before, and we will scream it from the rooftops again: TIGERS NEED MORE SPACE.
Just days ago, we mourned the loss of the Pujari tiger of Bandhavgarh in a similar territorial fight. We are losing our apex predators to a lack of habitat, and yet, we learn nothing. When protected areas become overcrowded, these magnificent cats are forced into unavoidable, deadly conflicts just to survive.

🦠 The Double Whammy: The CDV Crisis
As if shrinking habitats weren't enough, Kanha’s tigers are currently fighting a silent, deadly enemy: a Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) outbreak. We recently lost tigress T-141 and all four of her cubs to this merciless infection.
The Underlying Cause: While Mahavir bore severe injury marks from the fight, initial reports from Dainik Bhaskar suggest a tragic twist—Mahavir was also infected with CDV. The virus likely compromised his immune system and strength, making it impossible for him to recover from his injuries. CDV is being cited as the primary catalyst for his tragic end.
🕯️ A Wake-Up Call
Mahavir was a symbol of Kanha’s wild majesty. To lose him to a combination of habitat crunch and viral outbreak is a massive blow to conservation efforts.

If we do not act now to expand wildlife corridors, manage habitat density, and strictly control the spread of domestic diseases like CDV into our forests, we will continue to watch our national treasures vanish.
Rest in roaring peace, Mahavir. We will keep fighting for your kingdom. 🐾🌲

Rare Wildlife Moment in Jim Corbett | Elephant 🐘 Gives Birth to Twin Babies in Jungle

A heartbreaking morning from the forests of Bandhavgarh… 💔🐅
A woman who entered the jungle to collect tendu leaves never returned home. Hidden in the bushes, a tiger attacked within seconds, leaving an entire village in shock and grief.
As villagers screamed and rushed to save her, the tiger disappeared back into the forest… and behind it, another painful reminder of the growing conflict between humans and wildlife.
These forests belong to the tiger.
But for many villagers, the same forest is their only source of survival.
Two lives. One jungle. One tragic conflict.
Bandhavgarh is witnessing rising human-animal encounters, raising serious questions about shrinking forest space, survival, and coexistence.
Prayers for the victim’s family. 🙏

Is Kuno SAFE for Cheetah?

This question will keep on coming until we plan Cheetah conservation well in India.

Kuno is Leopard dominated land and Cheetah survival with Leopard will always put the Fastest land animal at threat.

4 Cheetah born a month ago are killed by the other predator and also partially eaten.

"Around 6.30 am today, four cubs - born to female cheetah KGP12 on April 11 - were found dead with carcasses partially eaten, by the monitoring team near the den site in Sheopur territorial division. The death of these cubs appears to have been caused due to predation by another animal" the official said.

They were last seen alive on May 11.

there are now 53 cheetahs left in India. While the Kuno National Park is home to 50 cheetahs, including 33 Indian-born ones, three cheetahs are at the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary

For the past few days from MP, heartbreaking news had been coming continuously specially from the forests of Bandhavgarh.

Just few days ago, the death of the famous tiger Pujari had left everyone shocked and emotional. But now, at last, a ray of hope has emerged from Bandhavgarh with a heartwarming story.

A five-month-old orphaned female bear cub has been given a new chance at life.
In a beautiful example of compassion and humanity, the forest team of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve stepped in to save the innocent cub after she was found injured inside a drain.

Abandoned by her mother and struggling for survival, the helpless cub found support in the very people entrusted with protecting the forest.
From Bandhavgarh to Bhopal, the bear cub was safely transported under the care of the forest department.
She will now receive treatment and rehabilitation at the Van Vihar Rescue Centre, where a new chapter of healing and hope begins for the little survivor.

Pujari of Bandhavgarh is no more. Lost his life in a territorial fight with another male Tiger D1.

I once got got a chance to see him in 2018 February, when i saw 2 brothers together- Chota Bheem and Pujari.

When i visited Bandhavgarh back in February 2024 , i came to know there Chota Bheem died and other male tigers tried to capture his territory in Khitauli. At that time 3 names were circulating- Pujari, D1 and other tiger which was named ‘Bahar wala’.

Ever since Chota Bheem’s death Khitauli was a war zone. And today we lost one warrior.

We are loosing Tigers in territorial fights, electrocution or poisoned to death. MP has clearly lost his prestige from once called Tiger State to now becoming death bed of Tigers.

According to NTCA data reported in early May 2026, 28 tigers have died in Madhya Pradesh within the first five months of 2026. This represents a high mortality rate for the state, which is known as India's "Tiger State," with 12 fatalities occurring since early April.

Can’t we see Tigers need more space and more healthy corridors.

Nightfall in Satpura hits differently. 🐾🌑

Ever wondered what happens in the jungle after the gates close? We went deep into the buffer zone of Satpura Tiger Reserve to find a hidden spot where leopards roam almost every single night.

We thought our Satpura Tiger Reserve safari was over, but the real adventure started after the sun went down! We took a rare night drive through the buffer zone.

There is nothing quite like the thrill of driving through a dense Indian forest in the pitch black, spotting glowing eyes in the brush, and realizing a massive leopard is just yards away.

Watch until the end to see the king of the night make an appearance!
