*GCC Gurha Slathia & MY Bharat Organise Cycle Race on World Bicycle Day; 52 Youth Participate*
_Gurha Slathia, Samba | 3 June 2026:_

_Guidance and Counseling Cell for Youth Development, Gurha Slathia_ in collaboration with _MY Bharat_ organised a _Cycle Race_ on the occasion of _World Bicycle Day_ today. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from *52 cyclists* of different age groups.

The race was flagged off from Gurha Slathia and saw spirited competition among the participants promoting fitness, eco-friendly transport, and the spirit of World Bicycle Day.

*Col Jaswant Singh Slathia* graced the occasion as the _Chief Guest_. He applauded the youth for their participation and stressed the importance of cycling for health and environment. He also lauded GCC Gurha Slathia and MY Bharat for organising such events to channelise youth energy positively.

The Chief Guest felicitated the winners with medals and certificates. Refreshment was also provided to all participants after the event.

Organisers said that the aim of the event was to spread awareness about the benefits of cycling and to encourage youth towards a healthy lifestyle. They thanked all participants, volunteers, and local residents for making the event a success.

*GCC Gurha Slathia Felicitates Lt Col Mehak Slathia, First Lady Welfare Officer of Zila Sainik Board in J&K*

_Guidance and Counseling Cell for Youth Development, Gurha Slathia_ felicitated *Lt Col Mehak Slathia* on her joining as *Welfare Officer, Zila Sainik Board Samba*.

Lt Col Mehak Slathia has the distinction of being the *first lady officer in Jammu & Kashmir* to be appointed to this post. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for women empowerment in the defence welfare sector.

GCC Founder *Col Jaswant Singh Slathia* along with other members welcomed and honoured Lt Col Mehak Slathia for this historic achievement. Speaking on the occasion, he said that her appointment will inspire many young girls from the region to serve the nation and break barriers in male-dominated fields.

Lt Col Mehak Slathia expressed gratitude for the honour and assured her commitment to work for the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows and their families in Samba district. She also urged youth to come forward and avail benefits of various schemes run by Zila Sainik Board.

The members of GCC Gurha Slathia extended best wishes to Lt Col Mehak Slathia for her new assignment and lauded her for bringing pride to Gurha Slathia and the entire Union Territory.

*Grota Gangland Clinches Shaheed Ram Singh Memorial Cricket ( S - 3 ) Tournament Title*
_Gurha Slathia, Samba | 23 May 2026:_

In a thrilling finish, *Grota Gangland* lifted the _Shaheed Ram Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament_ trophy after defeating *Panchayat 11* by *31 runs* in the final match played today at _Baba Hasal Dev Ji Stadium, Gurha Slathia_.

The final match drew a large crowd of cricket enthusiasts and local residents who gathered early morning to witness the much-awaited clash between the two top teams of the tournament.

Batting first, Grota Gangland put up a competitive total and then restricted Panchayat 11 to fall short by 31 runs, sealing a comprehensive victory. The team displayed disciplined bowling and sharp fielding to defend the target.

*Ex-DDC Member Sh. Sudarshan Singh Slathia* graced the occasion as the *Chief Guest*. He lauded the efforts of both teams and said that such tournaments are vital to keep the memory of our martyrs alive while channelising youth energy towards sports. He also congratulated the winners and appreciated the organisers for promoting a healthy sports culture in rural areas.

- *Man of the Match*: Bhawani Slarhia for his all-round performance in the final
- *Man of the Tournament & Highest Wicket Taker*: Guddu Slathia for consistent performances throughout the tournament
- *Highest Run Scorer*: Sudhanshu Slathia for his impressive batting display

The Chief Guest, accompanied by local dignitaries, gave away the trophies and prizes to the winning team, runners-up and individual performers.

The tournament was organised in memory of _Shaheed Ram Singh_ to instil patriotism and promote cricket at the grassroots level. The event saw participation from several teams of Gurha Slathia and adjoining areas over the past weeks.

The organising committee led by *Mr. Manu Slathia and team* was highly appreciated for the smooth and disciplined conduct of the entire tournament. From ground preparation to scheduling and crowd management, the committee ensured the event ran successfully.

Speaking on the occasion, organisers thanked all participating teams, volunteers, and spectators for their support and assured that more such tournaments will be held to encourage local sporting talent.

*GCC Gurha Slathia Organises 4-Day Trekking Camp to Sach Pass, Dainkund, Dalhousie & Khajjiar*

_Guidance and Counseling Cell for Youth Development, Gurha Slathia_ successfully organised a 4-day trekking camp covering *Sach Pass, Dainkund, Dalhousie and Khajjiar*.

The camp aimed to promote adventure, discipline and team spirit among the youth. Participants trekked through challenging routes, experienced the natural beauty of the Himalayas, and took part in group activities focused on leadership and self-reliance.

GCC President *Mr. Navdeep Singh Slathia* said such camps help channelise youth energy towards constructive activities and build physical and mental endurance. He congratulated all participants for completing the trek and thanked the volunteers for their support in making the camp a success.
