Our Career Counselling Outreach concluded in South-West Garo Hills, with our team connecting with students across Damalgre, Dadenggre, and Garobadha.

The final day brought together another set of meaningful interactions, giving students the opportunity to learn about hospitality education, career pathways, and the opportunities available at IHM Shillong.

Over five days across Garo Hills, these interactions have helped us take hospitality education beyond the classroom and closer to students who are beginning to explore their future.

Our Career Counselling Outreach continued across West Garo Hills, taking us through Selsella, Demdema, Rajabala, Batabari, Tikrikila, and Haripur.

Across the day, we engaged with students from eight higher secondary schools, creating space for conversations around hospitality education, career opportunities, and the skills needed to build a future in the industry.

Through these interactions, we continue to bring students closer to the possibilities that hospitality education can offer.

Our Career Counselling Outreach took us through Bajengdoba, Kharkutta, Adokgre and Resubelpara in North Garo Hills, where we had the opportunity to meet and engage with students from different schools.

From understanding the nature of the hospitality industry to exploring the education and career pathways it offers, the interactions encouraged students to look beyond the conventional and consider the many possibilities within hospitality.

With every conversation, we hope to make hospitality education more accessible, informed, and within reach for students across Meghalaya.

Learning Bakery Through Practice. 👨‍🍳

Our 5th Semester students continue to build on their bakery and confectionery knowledge through practical sessions, applying what they learn in the classroom to hands-on kitchen work.

These sessions give students the opportunity to understand the processes involved in bakery production while developing greater confidence, consistency, and attention to detail in their practical work.

Our Career Counselling & Hospitality Education Outreach continued in East Garo Hills, connecting with students across Rongjeng and Songsak.

Through interactions with students from Holy Family Higher Secondary School, United Rongjeng Higher Secondary School, Rongjeng RMSA Higher Secondary School, Vivian Vivid Academy Higher Secondary School, Songsak Agitokgre Higher Secondary School, and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, we introduced them to opportunities in hospitality education and career pathways at IHM Shillong.

The sessions also highlighted the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Hospitality Scholarship Scheme, helping students learn more about the opportunities available to pursue a career in hospitality.

Day 1 | Bridging the Gap in Hospitality Education

Our Career Counselling & Hospitality Education Outreach began at Riangdo, West Khasi Hills, where we interacted with students of Ri Lyngngam Presbyterian College and Christ King Higher Secondary School.

The session offered students an opportunity to explore the diverse career pathways within hospitality and learn more about pursuing their education at IHM Shillong, including the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Hospitality Scholarship Scheme.

Led by Dr. Balabynta Kharshiing, Principal, IHM Shillong, along with Ms. Deborah R. S. Passah and Mr. Rajiv Kumar Chatterjee, Heads of Department In-charge, the outreach marks the beginning of our journey to connect more young minds with opportunities in hospitality.
