Preparedness begins with awareness.

Team SDRF Shimla, in collaboration with Rotary Club Shimla, conducted a Community Awareness Programme at Auckland House School for Boys, engaging students on earthquake safety, emergency response and CPR.

From learning the right response during emergencies to witnessing hands-on demonstrations and an exhibition of advanced SDRF rescue equipment, the session turned awareness into practical learning.

Empowering Youth Through Awareness

Team SDRF Shimla, in collaboration with DOERS, conducted a workshop-cum-community awareness programme at St. Bede’s College, empowering students with essential knowledge on earthquake safety, emergency response, first aid techniques and CPR.

The session also featured hands-on demonstrations and an exhibition of advanced SDRF rescue equipment, giving students a practical insight into disaster response and preparedness.

Sh. Kamal Verma, HPS, DySP SDRF Shimla, interacted with the students and briefed them about the role of SDRF and the disaster scenario of Himachal Pradesh.

On the occasion of Independence Day, HP-SDRF organized an Exhibition-cum-Awareness Programme at Mall Road, near Rotary Club, showcasing advanced search and rescue tools and equipment used during disaster and emergency situations.

The programme also featured live demonstrations of essential life-saving skills, including CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) management, empowering citizens with practical knowledge to respond effectively during emergencies.

Operation Update | HP-SDRF

Some missions save lives. Others restore dignity.

Responding swiftly to information received from DDMA Shimla, the HP-SDRF rescue team carried out a challenging body recovery operation near Ashwani Khad, Shoghi–Mehli Bypass.

The unidentified deceased was located nearly 1.5 km down a steep gorge in extremely difficult terrain. Using specialised rope rescue equipment and technical rescue techniques, the team safely recovered the highly decomposed body and brought it to the roadside before handing it over to the local police for identification and further legal proceedings.

Every mission demands courage, precision, and professionalism—even when there is no life left to save. The HP-SDRF remains committed to serving the people of Himachal Pradesh with dedication, dignity, and unwavering resolve.

SDRF Swiftly Responds to Cloudburst in Boh Valley, Kangra

Following the cloudburst reported in Village Gharghun, Gram Panchayat Har Boh, Boh Valley (Tehsil Shahpur, District Kangra), an HP-SDRF team was immediately mobilized to the affected area.

Despite a road blockage near Maned, the team manually cleared debris to reach the site and promptly carried out a thorough search and rescue operation.

1. No loss of human life was reported.
2. 5 houses and 3 cattle sheds sustained severe damage.

After completing the search of the affected area and coordinating with the local administration, the operation was concluded.

In every emergency, every minute matters. HP-SDRF remains committed to protecting lives, serving communities, and standing ready—24×7.

Course Successfully Concluded, CBRN Training

The Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Course was successfully conducted at the Centre for Disaster Preparedness & Resilience(CDPR), Haroli, District Una, Himachal Pradesh, under the aegis of the 14th Battalion, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), from 04 June 2026 to 02 July 2026.

A total of 40 participants successfully completed the four-week specialised training programme, which focused on strengthening operational capabilities in CBRN incident preparedness and response through rigorous theoretical instruction and practical exercises.

The successful completion of the course marks another significant step towards enhancing the professional competence and operational readiness of disaster response personnel to effectively manage CBRN emergencies.
