Empowering Youth, Building Future Defenders of the Nation

The Agniveer Preparedness Programme was successfully conducted today at Sepon High School, Charaideo, under the aegis of the District Administration, Charaideo, in collaboration with the Indian Army, Assam Rifles (Red Shield Gunners) and Assam Police.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 101 aspiring candidates, including 83 male and 18 female aspirants from the district of Charaideo, who took part in the screening and motivation drive for the upcoming Agniveer recruitment process.

Designed to prepare and inspire young aspirants for a career in the Armed Forces by providing guidance on physical fitness training, written examination preparation, personality development, interview skills, leadership, discipline and nation-first values. Participants also underwent screening activities aimed at assessing their readiness for future recruitment opportunities.

The programme was graced by Shri Suruj Dehingia, Hon'ble MLA, Mahmora LAC, Dr. Neha Yadav, IAS, District Commissioner, Charaideo, Shri Dinchengfa Baruah, ACS, Co-District Commissioner, Mahmora, Shri Vivek Sharma, ACS, Assistant Commissioner & Executive Magistrate, Charaideo, and Shri Gajanand Sharma, APS, CDSP, Mahmora, whose presence and words of encouragement inspired the participating youth to strive for excellence, embrace discipline, and work towards a future of service to the nation.

The initiative reflects a collective commitment towards motivating and preparing the youth of Assam to join the Armed Forces and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

A meeting of the Expenditure Monitoring Cell was held today in Charaideo district. The meeting was chaired by Smti V. Sudha Rani, IDAS, Expenditure Observer, in the presence of Smt. Akangshi Bhattacharjee, ACS, Assistant Commissioner & Executive Magistrate; Smt. Barnali Khatiwara, ACS, Election Officer, Charaideo along with other concerned officials.

The meeting reviewed matters related to election expenditure monitoring, scrutiny of expenditure records and compliance with the guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission. Various aspects concerning transparency, accountability and effective monitoring of election-related expenditure were discussed during the meeting.

The District Level Task Force, comprising officers including the Sub-Inspector, FPD&CA; Inspector, FPD&CA & LM; Food Safety Officer; officials from Sonari Municipal Board; and the Price Monitoring Consultant/DEO, conducted an inspection of wholesalers and retailers in the Sonari market area on 2 June 2026.

During the inspection, the team examined the prices of essential commodities, the display of updated stock and price boards, issuance of proper cash memos (pakka bills), hygienic storage of food items, maintenance of relevant records and documents, certification and stamping of weighing machines, and the quality, labeling, and expiry dates of packaged products.

No abnormal increase in the prices of essential commodities was observed in the Sonari market area. Some expired products detected during the inspection were destroyed on the spot. Notices were also issued to concerned establishments directing them to maintain proper hygiene in the storage of food items, including salt.

A District TB Forum Meeting for the year 2026–27 was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Charaideo, under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) with the objective of strengthening efforts towards a TB-free district.

The meeting was held in the presence of Smti Leena Kumari Pawe, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Charaideo, along with health officials and stakeholders associated with tuberculosis prevention and control.

Discussions focused on the district's TB status, early detection and treatment of TB patients, awareness generation, community participation, nutritional support, and strategies to accelerate progress towards the national goal of TB elimination.

The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of all stakeholders towards the vision of "TB Harega, Desh Jeetega", ensuring coordinated efforts for a healthier and TB-free society.

A meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) on AES/JE, Dengue, Malaria and other Vector-Borne Diseases was held today at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Commissioner, Charaideo, under the aegis of the District Health Society, Charaideo.

The meeting was held in the presence of Smti Leena Kumari Pawe, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Charaideo, officials from the Health Department and other concerned stakeholders.

Detailed discussions were held on the current disease scenario in the district, preventive and control measures, surveillance activities, awareness generation and preparedness to effectively tackle vector-borne diseases, with special focus on AES/JE, Dengue and Malaria.

The meeting emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination, community participation and timely interventions to safeguard public health and strengthen disease prevention efforts across the district.

A review meeting on the development and strengthening of Model Anganwadi Centres under Charaideo district was held today in the O/o the District Commissioner, Charaideo.

The meeting was held in the presence of Hon'ble MLA, Sonari LAC, Shri Dharmeswar Konwar; District Commissioner of Charaideo, Dr. Neha Yadav, IAS; Smti Sujata Gogoi, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Charaideo; Smti Pinki Debnath, ACS Assistant Commissioner & Executive Magistrate, along with concerned officials.

A tragic fire incident occurred at around 10:10 PM yesterday at No. 1 Towkak Village due to an electrical short circuit, causing significant damage to the residence of Shri Akash Bawri, son of Smti Saraswati Bawri.

Following the incident, Hon'ble MLA of Sonari LAC, Shri Dharmeswar Konwar visited the affected family to assess the situation and express his solidarity during this difficult time. He interacted with the family members and assured them of all possible support.

The District Administration promptly extended relief assistance through the Disaster Management Department. As per norms, immediate relief materials including 2 tarpaulins, rice, dal, salt, and mustard oil were distributed to the affected family.

The District Administration conveys its deep concern over the unfortunate incident and remains committed to providing necessary assistance and support to the affected household.
