Public Appeal Against Inhumane Power Disconnection to Village Otligam During Harsh Winter
PUBLIC APPEAL | STRONG CONDEMNATION
This is a strong public appeal and condemnation against the inhumane and irresponsible action of the Power Development Department for disconnecting electricity to Village Otligam, Beerwah, during the harsh winter season.
The so-called reason cited by the department is non-payment of electricity bills, whereas the ground reality exposes the utter failure and negligence of the department itself. For the last 4–5 years, many households in Otligam have been receiving multiple electricity bills for a single house, creating massive confusion among the people regarding which bill to pay. Despite repeated approaches and requests made to the concerned office for clarification and rectification, no attention was paid, and the department chose silence and inaction.
Due to this confusion and official negligence, people were left helpless. Now, instead of correcting their own mistake, the department has adopted a cruel and anti-public approach by disconnecting power supply in peak winter, punishing innocent villagers for the department’s administrative failure.
We strongly condemn:
The careless and insensitive attitude of the Power Department.
The failure of officials who ignored the issue for years.
The shameful silence of political representatives who made tall promises before elections but vanished afterward.
Cutting electricity in freezing winter is not governance—it is inhumanity. Electricity is a basic necessity, not a favor. This action has pushed children, elderly, patients, and students into severe hardship.
We appeal urgently to:
’ble &K
&
to immediately restore electricity to Village Otligam, resolve the issue of multiple bills per household, and hold the concerned officials accountable for this gross injustice.
The people of Otligam refuse to suffer silently anymore. If immediate action is not taken, the responsibility for public anger and democratic protest will lie entirely with the concerned department and political leadership.
Justice delayed is injustice multiplied. Restore power now.
