Eid-ul-Adha Message from President JDF, Shamim Ahmad Sahab
My dear brothers and sisters,
On this blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, I send my warmest greetings and heartfelt prayers to every family across the valleys, hills and plains of our beloved Jammu and Kashmir. May the spirit of this sacred festival bring peace to your homes, strengthen your bonds of love and fill your hearts with hope. Eid is more than just a day of celebration; it reminds us of our shared bond, our faith and our common resolve to pursue what is right.
As we remember the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) today, let us reflect on the important lessons he taught us. Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his beloved son for Allah shows that true submission requires the courage to rise above earthly attachments. We need to embrace this spirit in our lives today. We must let go of our egos that divide us, our narrow family ties that blind us to larger injustices, our wealth that we hoard selfishly and our talents that we withhold from serving the truth. Let us commit to offering these not for our glory, but for justice, dignity and to please Almighty Allah. In these challenging times, when our identity and dreams are tested, this spirit of sacrifice must guide every son and daughter of J&K.
I urge all of you to make this Eid a time for showing compassion and fairness. Reach out to the poor and needy with open hands and kind hearts. Share your resources, your time, and your care with those who struggle every day for basic dignity. Let no orphan go hungry, no widow feel alone, and no laborer remain unpaid. In our trades and dealings, let's maintain the highest standards of honesty and justice. Fair dealings are acts of worship. Deception and exploitation betray not just our fellow humans but also our faith. Let us create a trustworthy economy where the weak are supported, and the strong act with responsibility.
This Eid, however, carries a heavy sadness. The tragic event in Budgam has left us all heartbroken. It is a national tragedy that has touched the soul of every Kashmiri. I extend my deepest condolences and support to the families of the victims and the loved ones who are enduring this unbearable pain. No words can heal your wounds, but remember that your grief is shared by all of us. The entire J&K mourns with you. We honor the innocent lives lost with great respect and sorrow.
Justice delayed is justice denied, and when justice is denied for too long, it becomes a lasting wound. The bereaved families and the conscience of our people will find comfort only when the person responsible for this terrible act faces the harshest punishment in form of the death sentence, so that a strong deterrent is established for the future. We call for swift, transparent and relentless justice so that no mother has to cry for her child under such circumstances again.
Let us turn our pain into purpose and our sacrifices into strength. On this Eid, let us renew our commitment to unity, justice, and serving the God’s cause and our downtrodden nation. May Allah accept our sacrifices, forgive our faults, and bless our state with lasting peace, prosperity and dignity.
Eid Mubarak!
With prayers and solidarity,
Shamim Ahmad Thoker
