A peaceful democratic protest by the residents of Pongringlong, Rongmei Naga Village, advocating for their merger with either Tamenglong or Noney District.

The village is currently part of Kangpokpi District. Historically, it has been a rightful territory of the Rongmei people of Pongringlong village since time immemorial.

Remnants of monoliths and stone structures, now in ruins, at Pongringlong, Rongmei Naga Village.

In days gone by, the village youths would engage in a rustic contest of leaping from one monolith to another, holding mugs crafted out of mithun horns, filled with rice beer. The victor was the one who kept his drink without spilling it.

How I wish these age-old traditions could be revived.

This mountain peak is called "Kimbut".

When harvests are over and autumn arrives, we have the tradition of constructing a signalling pole using bamboo sheaths that glitter against the sunlight, to convey a message to the neighbouring villages that work is over and it's time to prepare for festivities.

The legacy of Gairiamnang has it that he played his musical harp, sitting on the peak and courted a lady from across the other side of the mountains.

Gairiamnang ta kapu rui kameirui(Gairiamnang) machunhmei mun akhat dun guang o sa pukhou, mi mun hei dun guang e sa e.

"Rhou Lao-lim" tuna kao e.

[When Gairiamnang was asked by his father to bring him a flower of his choice, this flower was brought. It's called "Rhou Lao-lim" in Rongmei dialect.]
