Attended the Valedictory Function of the 9th Dorjee Khandu Memorial District Level Badminton Tournament organised by the Jang Sports Club at the Indoor Stadium, Jang, today.

It was a pleasure to witness the enthusiasm, dedication and sporting spirit of our young athletes. I congratulate all the participants, winners and organisers for making the tournament a successful platform to promote badminton and nurture sporting talent in our district.

My best wishes to all the players for their future endeavours. Let us continue to encourage our youth towards sports, fitness and excellence.

Flagged off the members of Monyul Sports Club, Tawang, who will be participating in the 9th Dorjee Khandu Memorial Badminton Tournament, to be held at Jang from 20th to 23rd August 2026.
It is heartening to know that the Monyul Sports Club contingent comprises 40 players, reflecting the growing enthusiasm and participation in badminton across Tawang.
Three clubs from Tawang District—Monyul Sports Club, Lungla Sports Club and Jang Sports Club—will compete in the tournament, vying for the coveted championship title.
Wishing all the players the very best. May the tournament be a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie and the sporting spirit of Tawang. 🏸🏆

Today, I attended a meeting with the Electoral Roll Observer for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 for Tawang District, held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Tawang.

The meeting brought together public representatives, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), representatives of political parties and concerned officials to discuss the ongoing SIR process.

I appreciated the opportunity to participate in the discussion and place the concerns and suggestions of the people of Tawang before the authorities. A transparent, inclusive and error free electoral roll is essential for strengthening our democratic process.

I look forward to the smooth and effective implementation of the SIR process in Tawang District, ensuring that every eligible citizen is duly enrolled and that no genuine voter is left behind.

The Dhamma Walk for Universal Peace and Compassion, organised to commemorate the 91st Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, was truly a meaningful and inspiring event.
The programme was organised by the Indian Himalayan Council of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition (IHCNBT) in collaboration with Tawang Monastery, Khinmey Monastery, Sera Jey Jamyang Choekhorling, Monpa Mimang Tsogpa and several other organisations under the able guidance of Venerable Phara Damey Tulku Rinpoche and the General Secretary of IHCNBT,Shri Maling Gombu Ji.
The walk, which commenced from Tawang Monastery and concluded at Zhongtse Gyalwai Phodrang, brought together monks, devotees and members of the public in a shared expression of peace, compassion and harmony. It was heartening to witness such overwhelming participation and collective commitment to the timeless values of love, non-violence and universal brotherhood.
I extend my sincere appreciation to all the organisers, volunteers and participants for making this noble initiative a grand success. May the teachings of His Holiness continue to inspire humanity towards peace, compassion and wisdom.

It was a pleasure to meet the executive delegation of the Tawang District Athletics Association, led by its President, Dr. Thuten Tsering, who called on me at my residence today.
During our interaction, the Association shared its vision and roadmap for promoting athletics in Tawang and nurturing young sporting talent. I truly appreciate their commitment to encouraging our youth to embrace sports, discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
I extend my best wishes to the Tawang District Athletics Association in all its future endeavours. I am confident that, with dedication, teamwork and the support of the community, the Association will play a pivotal role in strengthening athletics in our district and inspiring the next generation of athletes to achieve excellence at the state, national and international levels.

Visited Khando Drowa Sangmo District Hospital, Tawang today to personally meet the patients admitted there. I interacted with them, enquired about their health conditions and well-being and listened to their grievances and concerns regarding the medical care being provided.
It was heartening to see the dedicated efforts of the doctors, nurses and hospital staff in serving the patients with commitment and compassion. I sincerely wish all the patients a speedy recovery and assure them that every genuine concern brought to my notice will be taken up with the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
