Rusted and uprooted infrastructure of G.M.C adding to woes of patients and attendants: Puneet Singh Jamwal



Jammu, July 30s The Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machines installed at Government Medical College (GMC) was not working and laying defunct for the most of times and the patients whether they are emergency patients or poor patients are facing many hardships forcing them to go to private diagnostic centres this was stated by Puneet singh jamwal President civil society for development of Jammu and Kashmir (CSD J &K) in a press conference at Jammu.

Puneet singhjamwal said that the another CT scan unit working on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode installed at Government Medical College is running round the clock .This is a matter of shame that one unit belonging to GMC was laying defunct for months together and another unit belonging to some private firm which have been provided with a handsome area inside the hospital premises is running round the clock thus causing inconvenience to public and a big loss to government exchequer.

The CSD chief further said that what was the need of installing a simple CT machine under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode from a private firm inside the hospital as there are already number of CT scan machines of same types in private diagnostic centres in and around Jammu city ,he added ,although the rates of PPP mode and GMC are same but the major sufferers are the below poverty line (BPL) people, as previously they have been provided with 100 relief from fee from GMC but now from PPP mode they have to pay 50 percent of the total amount that to after the hefty attestations from HOD, HOU and Medical superintendent .

Puneet singh jamwal ruled out the use PPP mode in government hospital and said that GMC is capable of installing latest scan machines like pet scan but its pity to see that the authorities are more concerned to spending money on constructing a big gate ways of GMC rather than looking to its facilities which are most important for its patients.

He further said that one of the two main lifts of GMC is not working hence causing inconvenience to the patients and their attendants .Since these two lifts have the capacity to carry the stretcher along with patients and their not working in any condition is leaving the patients and attendant in the state of shock .

Puneet singh jamwal urged Governor Satya pal malik to intervene and took necessary measures as GMC is the biggest heath centre in Jammu and its erosion will lead direct impact on the life of people of Jammu division.
