According to legend, Varanasi was founded by the god Shiva. There happened a fight between the two supreme gods, Brahma and Shiva, and the succeeding combat resulted in one of the five heads of Brahma being torn off by Shiva. It was a custom of the time that the victor carried the slain adversary’s head in his hand and let it hang down from his hand as an act of ignominy and a sign of his own brav
ery. A bridle was also put into the mouth. Shiva thus dishonored Brahma's head, and kept it with him at all times. When he came to the city of Varanasi in this state, the hanging head of Brahma dropped from Shiva's hand and disappeared in the ground. The land of Varanasi is therefore considered an extremely holy religious site. The Pandavas, the protagonists of the Hindu epic Mahabharata, are said to have visited the city in search of Shiva to atone for their sin of fratricide and Brāhmanahatya that they had committed during the climactic Kurukshetra War. It is regarded as one of seven holy cities (Sapta Puri) which can provide Moksha; Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar, Kashi, Kanchi, Avanti, and Dvārakā are the seven cities known as the givers of liberation The School has been established by The Aryans Public School Society, Varanasi, registered under the Societies Registration Act, No. XX of 1860.The School is promoted by renowned business group of Varanasi – “Nandas”.Shri C L Nanda arrived in Varanasi in the year 1936 starting as a salesman in a sports goods manufacturing company. With his efforts and dedication, he later started a construction company. The group further expanded and touched new heights under the able guidance of Shri R K Chopra. Shri Vineet Chopra and Ms Subina Chopra are further nurturing and giving shape to the dream. Since the group has always believed in quality, values and ethics, the same will be strictly adhered to in the School project too. The Society has constituted a Board of Governors under the Chairmanship of Mr Shomie Das, to run the School. His long list of academic accomplishments and vast experience as a teacher and researcher, leave no doubt, about his prowess in the field of education. As an educationist, he has headed institutes of world renown.
