A Pause for Reflection in the Middle of Lent
Fr. Chorbishop Muntaser Haddad

After we have journeyed part of the way through this sacred season of fasting, prayer, and works of mercy, we pause in the middle of Lent to reflect on the true nature of the path we have lived since the beginning of this holy season—whether it has truly been a time directed toward God.
In our Syriac Church, the rite of the Prostration before the Cross will be celebrated, so that we may remember that the Cross is the sign through which we live the seriousness and purpose of the fast: to detach ourselves from everything that prevents us from uniting with the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ.
During Lent, we experience the seriousness of faith and live a commitment that leads us toward the Cross, just as the Lord Jesus Himself experienced it.
Let us reflect in the middle of Lent on the reality of our fasting. If we have not yet taken it seriously, this is an opportunity to continue this journey with fidelity.
Whoever loves God lives a daily fast-meaning a detachment from everything that prevents a person from truly belonging to God.

The difference of lent between homeland and abroad
Barzan AbdulGhani _ Sawt ALsalam

Differences in traditions
The social atmosphere
Alternatives
And real commitment

At the time of great lent, the ways of observing it are different from place to another. These differences arise according to the traditions of churches and the traditions of those communities.
From the united states, Meron Munther said: “the difference between baghdida and the states is in the social atmosphere and in dealing with foods that contain ingredients that break the fast, however the alternatives are available.”

From Australia, Nahla Moussa saw it as an opportunity for self discipline and self reflection, she emphasized that the great lent isn’t tied to a place, but in faith.

So, does these differences affect our fasting?
