79th Independence Day of Pakistan Celebrated at Embassy of Pakistan, Baghdad

The 79th Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with a simple and dignified ceremony at the Embassy of Pakistan in Baghdad. Embassy officers and officials, along with members of the Pakistani community residing in Baghdad, attended the event with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador of Pakistan to Iraq, Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed, accompanied by the national anthem of Pakistan. Special messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of Independence Day were also read out to the audience.

In his address, Ambassador Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed paid rich tribute to the historic struggle and immense sacrifices of the Muslims of the Subcontinent under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which led to the creation of an independent homeland on 14 August 1947. He emphasized that independence was achieved through extraordinary determination, unity and sacrifice, and that safeguarding and strengthening Pakistan remained a collective responsibility of every Pakistani.

The Ambassador stressed that the best way to honour the sacrifices of the founding generation was to contribute sincerely to the development, stability and prosperity of Pakistan. He underlined the importance of national unity, political and economic stability, strong institutions, quality education, scientific and technological advancement, investment, exports and greater economic self-reliance. He observed that Pakistan possessed enormous human and natural resources and that, with unity of purpose, discipline, hard work and commitment to the national interest, the country had the potential to emerge as a stronger, more prosperous and increasingly influential state.

He further emphasized that Pakistanis living abroad also had an important role in the country’s progress. Through their professionalism, hard work, remittances, investment and positive representation of Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis could make a valuable contribution to national development while strengthening Pakistan’s relations with countries around the world.

Referring to recent regional developments, Ambassador Zeeshan Ahmed noted that Marka-e-Haq, together with Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic engagement and its role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation amid tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, had further enhanced Pakistan’s international standing. He stated that Pakistan would continue to pursue a responsible and balanced foreign policy based on peace, dialogue, respect for sovereignty and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

On the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled and unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stated that the Kashmir dispute remained an internationally recognized issue that must be resolved peacefully in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be allowed to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination.

The Ambassador further stated that Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at all appropriate international forums and would continue to extend its diplomatic, political and moral support to the Kashmiri people until the realization of their legitimate rights. He stressed that a just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute was essential for lasting peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia.

Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed called upon all Pakistanis to rise above individual differences and work collectively for a peaceful, stable, economically strong and prosperous Pakistan, guided by the principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline. He expressed confidence that, through national unity, perseverance and dedication, Pakistan would continue to overcome challenges and move forward on the path of progress and prosperity.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace, security, unity, development and prosperity of Pakistan, the well-being of its people, and for the progress and strength of the country.

پاکستان کے یومِ آزادی کی 79ویں سالگرہ کے موقع پر صدرِ پاکستان آصف علی زرداری کا پیغام

پاکستان کے یومِ آزادی کی 79ویں سالگرہ کے موقع پر میں اندرونِ ملک اور بیرونِ ملک مقیم تمام پاکستانیوں کو دل کی گہرائیوں سے مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں۔

14 اگست وہ دن ہے جب ہم ان قربانیوں کو یاد کرتے ہیں جن کی بدولت پاکستان کا قیام ممکن ہوا۔ ہم قائداعظم محمد علی جناح، تحریکِ پاکستان کے رہنماؤں اور کارکنوں، اور ان تمام لوگوں کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرتے ہیں جنہوں نے ایک آزاد وطن کے حصول کی جدوجہد میں اپنے گھر بار اور روزگار تک چھوڑ دیے۔

لیکن آزادی صرف ایک تاریخی کامیابی نہیں بلکہ ایک ذمہ داری بھی ہے جسے ہر نسل کو آگے بڑھانا ہے۔ عوام کی جمہوری خواہش کے نتیجے میں وجود میں آنے والے پاکستان کو مزید مضبوط، محفوظ اور خوشحال بنانا ہوگا۔ ہماری ذمہ داری صرف یہ یاد رکھنا نہیں کہ پچھلی نسلوں نے کیا حاصل کیا بلکہ اپنی محنت سے اس میں مزید اضافہ کرنا بھی ہے۔

گزشتہ سال نے ہمیں پاکستانی قوم کی طاقت کا احساس دلایا ہے۔ معرکۂ حق نے یہ ثابت کیا کہ پاکستان امن کا خواہاں ہے، لیکن اپنی خودمختاری اور قومی مفادات کے دفاع کے عزم اور صلاحیت سے بھی مالا مال ہے۔ طاقت کا اصل سبق ذمہ داری کا سبق ہے۔ جو ملک اپنا دفاع کر سکتا ہے، اسے اپنی طاقت کو تنازع سے بچنے، امن کے تحفظ اور اپنے عوام کے مفادات کے لیے بھی استعمال کرنا چاہیے۔

آج ہمیں جو امن اور استحکام حاصل ہے، اس کے لیے بڑی قیمت ادا کی گئی ہے۔ اس یومِ آزادی پر ہم اپنی مسلح افواج، قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں اور پولیس کے شہداء کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرتے ہیں اور ان کے اہلِ خانہ کی قربانیوں کو بھی سلام پیش کرتے ہیں۔ ان کی بہادری اور عزم نے بیرونی جارحیت اور دہشت گردی کے خطرے سے ہماری قوم کے تحفظ میں اہم کردار ادا کیا ہے۔ پاکستانی قوم ان کی خدمات کی تہہ دل سے شکر گزار ہے۔

خطے میں مذاکرات کی کوششوں کو آگے بڑھانے کے لیے پاکستان کا کردار بھی اسی ذمہ داری کی ایک اہم مثال ہے۔ پاکستان نے ایسے وقت میں، جب وسیع تر تنازع کے خطے اور دنیا پر سنگین اثرات مرتب ہو سکتے تھے، اپنے رابطوں، جغرافیائی محلِ وقوع اور سفارتی اثر و رسوخ کو مؤثر انداز میں استعمال کرتے ہوئے مذاکرات اور کشیدگی میں کمی کی حوصلہ افزائی کی۔

پاکستان کا مؤقف واضح ہے۔ ہمارا یقین ہے کہ تنازعات چاہے کتنے ہی سنگین کیوں نہ ہوں، بالآخر انہیں مذاکرات اور سفارت کاری کے ذریعے حل کیا جانا چاہیے۔ ہماری سلامتی ہمارے پڑوس اور پوری دنیا کے امن اور استحکام سے جڑی ہوئی ہے۔ پاکستان کشیدگی کم کرنے، علاقائی استحکام کے تحفظ اور تعاون کے لیے سازگار ماحول پیدا کرنے کی کوششوں کی حمایت جاری رکھے گا۔

یہ وقت ملک کے اندرونی معاملات پر توجہ دینے اور ان کاموں پر توجہ مرکوز کرنے کا بھی ہے جو پاکستان کے مستقبل کا تعین کریں گے۔ ہمیں اپنی معیشت کو مضبوط بنانا ہو گا، نوجوانوں کے لیے زیادہ مواقع پیدا کرنے ہوں گے، تعلیم اور ہنر کو بہتر بنانا ہو گا اور گورننس، معیشت اور معاشرے میں اصلاحات کے ذریعے اداروں کو مضبوط کرنا ہوگا تاکہ ترقی اور جمہوریت کے ثمرات ملک کے ہر حصے اور ہر طبقے تک پہنچ سکیں۔

پاکستان کی سب سے بڑی طاقت اس کے نوجوان ہیں۔ ملک بھر اور دنیا کے مختلف حصوں میں وہ سائنس، ٹیکنالوجی، کاروبار، تعلیم اور تخلیقی شعبوں میں اپنی صلاحیتوں کا مظاہرہ کر رہے ہیں۔ ہماری ذمہ داری ہے کہ انہیں وہ تعلیم، ہنر اور مواقع فراہم کریں جن کے ذریعے وہ اپنی صلاحیتوں کو بروئے کار لا سکیں۔ آج نوجوانوں پر سرمایہ کاری دراصل پاکستان کے مستقبل پر سرمایہ کاری ہے۔

عام پاکستانیوں کے لیے قومی ترقی کو عملی بنیادوں پر پرکھا جاتا ہے۔ اس کا مطلب ہے کہ ایک نوجوان کو اپنا کیریئر بنانے کے لیے ہنر سیکھنے اور آگے بڑھنے کا موقع ملے۔ اس کا مطلب ہے کہ ایک خاندان معیاری تعلیم اور صحت کی سہولیات تک رسائی حاصل کر سکے۔ اس کا مطلب ہے کہ کسان، مزدور، تاجر اور کاروباری افراد زیادہ اعتماد کے ساتھ مستقبل کی منصوبہ بندی کر سکیں۔ پاکستان کی طاقت کا اصل اندازہ اس بات سے ہوگا کہ ہماری قومی ترقی اس کے عوام کی زندگیوں میں کتنی بہتری لاتی ہے۔

ہم بھارتی غیر قانونی زیرِ تسلط جموں و کشمیر کے عوام کے ساتھ بھی اپنی یکجہتی کا اعادہ کرتے ہیں اور ان کے حقوق کے لیے جائز جدوجہد کی حمایت جاری رکھنے کا عزم کرتے ہیں۔ پاکستان جموں و کشمیر کے تنازع کے پُرامن حل کے لیے کشمیری عوام کی خواہشات اور اقوامِ متحدہ کی متعلقہ قراردادوں کے مطابق اپنی حمایت جاری رکھے گا۔

اس موقع پر میں یہ بھی واضح کرنا چاہتا ہوں کہ تاریخی اختلافات کے باوجود ہم نے ہمیشہ اپنے ہمسایہ افغانستان کی قومی خودمختاری کا احترام اور حمایت کی ہے اور ان سے بھی اسی طرح کے رویے کی توقع رکھتے ہیں۔ یہ امر افسوسناک ہے کہ افغانستان کی موجودہ عبوری حکومت دہشت گرد گروہوں کے ایک مجموعے کو اپنی سرزمین استعمال کرنے اور پاکستان سمیت ہمسایہ ممالک کے خلاف حملے کرنے کی اجازت دے رہی ہے اور ان کی حمایت کر رہی ہے۔ یہ بھی افسوسناک ہے کہ افغانستان کے طالبان حکمران پاکستانی شہریوں اور سکیورٹی اہلکاروں کے خلاف دہشت گرد حملوں میں بھارت کے ساتھ تعاون کر رہے ہیں۔ وہ ایسا پاکستان کی امن کے قیام کی کوششوں سے توجہ ہٹانے کے لیے کر رہے ہیں، جنہیں پوری دنیا تسلیم کرتی ہے۔

میں انہیں خبردار کرتا ہوں کہ پاکستانی عوام کے خلاف یہ شرپسندانہ کارروائیاں بند کریں اور سب کو یقین دلاتا ہوں کہ پاکستان کی مسلح افواج ان مذموم عزائم کو شکست دینے کی پوری صلاحیت رکھتی ہیں۔

اس یومِ آزادی پر میں تمام پاکستانیوں سے اپیل کرتا ہوں کہ وہ جس بھی شعبے میں خدمات انجام دے رہے ہیں، ملک کی ترقی میں اپنا کردار ادا کریں۔

الّلہ تعالیٰ پاکستان کی حفاظت فرمائے، ہمارے عوام کو امن اور خوشحالی عطا کرے، ہمارے ملک کو مضبوط بنائے اور بہتر مستقبل کی طرف ہماری رہنمائی فرمائے۔

Message from the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari on 79th Independence Anniversary

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis at home and abroad.

14 August is a day when we remember the sacrifices that made Pakistan possible. We pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the leaders and workers of the Pakistan Movement and all those who gave up their homes, security and livelihoods in the struggle for a homeland.

But independence is not only a historic achievement. It is also a responsibility that each generation must carry forward. The Pakistan that was created through the democratic will of its people must continue to grow stronger, more secure and more prosperous. Our task is not only to remember what earlier generations achieved, but to add to it through our own work.

The past year has reminded us of the strength of the Pakistani nation. The events surrounding Marka-e-Haq demonstrated that Pakistan seeks peace, but also possesses the resolve and capacity to defend its sovereignty and national interests. The lesson of strength is ultimately a lesson of responsibility. A country that can defend itself must also use its strength to prevent conflict, protect peace and serve the interests of its people.

The security and stability we enjoy today have come at a great cost. On this Independence Day, we pay tribute to the martyrs of our Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and police, and honour the sacrifices of their families. Their courage and commitment have helped safeguard our nation against external aggression and the threat of terrorism. The people of Pakistan remain deeply grateful for their service.

Pakistan’s role in the efforts to facilitate dialogue in the region is an important example of this responsibility. Pakistan has effectively used its channels of communication, its geographical location and diplomatic capital to encourage dialogue and de-escalation at a time when wider conflict could have serious consequences for the region and the world.

Pakistan’s approach is clear. We believe that disputes, no matter how serious, must ultimately be addressed through dialogue and diplomacy. Our security is linked to the peace and stability of our neighbourhood and the world at large. Pakistan will continue to support efforts that reduce tensions, protect regional stability and create conditions for cooperation.

This is also a time to look inward and focus on the work that will determine Pakistan’s future. We must strengthen our economy, create greater opportunities for our young people, improve education and skills, strengthen institutions through series of governance, economic and social reforms to ensure that the benefits of development and democracy reach every part and community of the country.

Pakistan’s greatest strength is its young people. Across the country and around the world, they are demonstrating their talent in science, technology, business, education and the creative industries. Our responsibility is to give them the education, skills and opportunities they need to realise their potential. By investing in our youth today, we are investing in Pakistan’s future.

For ordinary Pakistanis, national progress is measured in practical terms. It means a young person finding the skills and opportunity to build a career. It means a family being able to access quality education and healthcare. It means farmers, workers, traders and businesses being able to plan for the future with greater confidence. The strength of Pakistan will ultimately be judged by whether our national progress improves the lives of its people.

We also renew our solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirm our support for their legitimate struggle for their rights. Pakistan will continue to support a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of its people and the relevant United Nations resolutions.

On this occasion, I also want to reiterate that despite historical differences, we have always respected and supported the national sovereignty of our neighbour Afghanistan and expect the same reciprocity. It is sad that the current interim regime of Afghanistan is allowing and supporting a cocktail of terror groups to use their soil for launching attacks against neighbouring countries including Pakistan. It is sad the Taliban regime of Afghanistan is collaborating with India in launching terror attacks against Pakistani civilians and security personnel. They are doing this to distract us from the peace building efforts of Pakistan, recognised by entire world.

I warn them to stop these evil actions against the people of Pakistan and assure all and sundry that the armed forces of Pakistan are capable of defeating these evil designs.

On this Independence Day, I call upon all Pakistanis to contribute to the country’s progress in whatever field they serve.

May Allah Almighty protect Pakistan, grant peace and prosperity to our people, strengthen our country and guide us towards a better future.
