A warm welcome to Ráðhildur!
/
Ráðhildur works on the margins of the real and imagined. She works through storytelling, poetry, installations and performance.
Currently, she is investigating childish imagination and play. Inspired by her work in a playschool, she is connecting to her childish curiosity through toys, both man-made and nature-made.
Her work routine right now consists of making up stories in her head, playing with jumping rope, plastic buckets, stones, shells and spinning words around it all.

EN:
Peruvian artist Luz María Bedoya, currently in residence at ArtsIceland, will present her work All the Lighthouses of the Peruvian Coast to the public of Ísafjörður. This is a collaborative project with sound artists, weaving together music and navigation. In a multimedia format, Luz María will speak about her graphic score, developed based on the lighthouses along the Peruvian coast on the Pacific Ocean, and will share a listening session of sound pieces created by Peruvian experimental musicians. Furthermore, Polish musician Piotr Karczmarek, based in Ísafjörður, will perform his own version of Luz Maria’s score to close the evening.
IS:
Luz María Bedoya, listakona frá Perú sem dvelur um þessar mundir í gestavinnustofum ArtsIceland, mun kynna verk sitt „All the Lighthouses of the Peruvian Coast“ fyrir almenningi á Ísafirði.

Today we say hello and welcome to Eau Pernice and little Pascal!

Artist Eau Pernice is in residence at ArtsIceland during December and January , accompanied by her son Pascal. Here, she works with a local, closed airport as a starting point for exploring how places and stories intertwine. Through graphic prints, film, and sound, she unfolds the airport as both motif and metaphor—a space suspended between departure and stillness, where new narratives can emerge in the tension between the physical and the imagined.

Eau Pernice is a Copenhagen based artist exploring how places and objects become catalysts for new narratives, transforming the everyday into poetic and improbable interpretations of our surroundings.

The residency is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.

Welcome to poet Jiyang Yoon who will be with us for four weeks!

"I am a Korean poet who writes across the boundaries of poetry and non-poetry, constantly exploring these borders and seeking to weave non-poetic elements into my work. I was deeply moved by Andri Snær Magnason’s On Time and Water, especially in the way it intertwines human stories with Iceland’s climate and natural landscapes. I hope to create work in environments that carry the memory of water through time and to craft poetry inspired by these landscapes."

This week we're sad to say goodbye to Ortzi - - who has been with us for 8 weeks! It's been great having you and all the best in the future.

Ortzi Laborde is an artist whose practice explores the texture of rocks and the depth of landscapes. Through various mediums, such as photography and Indian ink painting, he translates the images captured during his residency in Iceland.

His work, inspired by mineral nature, is mainly in black and white.

These works offer a new interpretation of the landscape: when faced with his large formats, the eye hesitates between abstraction and figuration.

Initially perceived as minimalist marks, the eye hesitates between abstraction and figuration. Then, on second glance, they appear as landscapes or natural surfaces sublimated by light and matter. It is in this interplay of the visible and the invisible that fragments of relief, materials and rocky textures are gradually revealed.

Ortzi Laborde thus invites the viewer to look at things differently. This artistic project seeks to question our perception of the world around us: a seemingly ordinary landscape, but from another angle, reveals an unsuspected richness.
