new in Roccellal 🇮🇹 , arrival of 66 migrants This morning , after a rescue operation carried out by the Roccellese coast guards off the Calabrian coast , 66 migrants from various nationalities disembarked at the port .
Among them also several women and some children , two of them less than one year old . Another 39 Afghan migrants arrived at the port last Wednesday , including a woman in an advanced state of pregnancy . With today's arrival the number of landings in Roccella in the last 16 days has risen to 9 . Before landing in Roccella , the migrants were aboard a sailboat spotted by the Coast Guard more than 30 miles from the coast . The rescue operation was coordinated by the operations room of the Port Authority of Reggio Calabria . After landing in the port of Roccella , migrants have been subjected to molecular scanning test by the specialized personnel of the provincial health authority of Reggio Calabria . Subsequently , at the disposal of the prefecture of Reggio Calabria , they were temporarily placed in the tense structure built in recent months and managed by the volunteers of the Red Cross and Civil Protection . This morning is the 22nd migrant landing in the only stretch of the Locride coast in these first five months of 2022 : 21 in Rocella and one in Siderno .
