This past weekend, the Benjamins SFRG took a trip through time exploring the beautiful medieval town of Soave.
Perched on Monte Tenda, Castello di Soave dates back to the 10th century and was later fortified by the powerful Della Scala family in the 14th century. The castle’s towering walls, concentric courtyards, and panoramic views once served as a stronghold protecting the region from invaders — and today offer a stunning glimpse into Northern Italy’s medieval past.
Surrounding the castle, the town walls of Soave stretch for over a mile with 24 towers and three grand gates that once guarded the city’s entrances. Built under Cansignorio della Scala, these walls remain among the best-preserved fortifications in Veneto.
Inside the walls lies the charming town of Soave, a former Roman settlement later ruled by the Scaligeri and Venetians. Its cobblestone streets, historic gates, and scenic vineyards are now known worldwide for producing the famous Soave white wine.
It was the perfect blend of history, culture, and camaraderie — another great day for the Benjamins! 🍇🏰
