Let's all slow down and pay attention. Despite the mayor's efforts to silence and block critical voices, and his failure to appoint four town representatives to the Traffic Safety Committee as required by Ordinance: https://ecode360.com/3603804 for the past four years, I am committed to advocating for safer roads for all. I want to find solution
s to address our community's road crisis, which is impacting many residents' lives and quality of life. I hope that our community's budget will prioritize public traffic safety. Here are some ideas to make public traffic safety a top priority:
1. Install RRFB devices, which can improve safety on the roads. This decision needs approval from the Municipality, the Police Department Traffic Division, or a Council member, and would require a survey by engineers.
2. Implement the Community Design for All Ages action from the Sustainable Jersey program to make our community more accessible to people of all ages.
3. Work with , our regional Transportation Management Association, to consider passing a revised Complete Streets policy from 2013, developing a comprehensive Crossing Guard policy, and striving for the Gold SRTS award.
4. Implement a Vision ZERO for our community to prioritize road safety. https://visionzeronetwork.org/
5. Improve our Community Walk score and make Bergenfield a more bike and pedestrian-friendly town for people of all ages. https://www.walkscore.com/NJ/Bergenfield
