What was that?!?
If you didn’t catch the response from Michigan Senator, Elissa Slotkin, go watch it now because that was 100% what needs to be heard and how we must conduct ourselves during these times. But from the debate stage when Trump said he had “concepts of a plan” to address the economy and rising cost for average working class folks to tonight’s speech, it is clear there was never a plan. Plan to address the price of eggs, milk, daily essentials, housing, healthcare, all of which were nonexistent in this speech. As everyone knows that in your first 100 days as president, you have the most clout to get things done—especially if you win with a mandate to address the economic needs of the people. But none of that was present in this speech or in Trump’s actions since returning to power. Hopefully, that changes in the coming days, but given his admission that these tariffs will hurt average folks, meaningful change seems unlikely.
President Trump mentioned social issues like DEI more in one speech than some Democrats did during the entire election cycle, using buzzwords like “woke” while appearing uninterested in addressing real, tangible problems facing the people. Now, don’t get me wrong—some of the reactions of Democrats in that room is not something I absolutely love! But now Is a time to be vigilient, engaged, resistant, and mobilize for the trying times ahead! If you see something you dont like, find others the feel the same way as you, and get involved in the process!!!
We are in for a rough few of years ahead of us, and I hope and pray for the best for everyone.
