Mr. Samer Judeh, Chairman of AmCham-Jordan, attended the "Aqaba Business and Investment Workshop" held by Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC). Mr. Judeh participated on a panel with Aqaba officials and stakeholders, sharing success stories and addressing investment opportunities in Aqaba .

The workshop served as a venue for interaction between investors, ASEZA, ADC and other stake holders. Mr. Samer Judeh engaged with officials and business leaders throughout the panel discussion to explore needs and objectives for Aqaba's future. With the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) serving as the cornerstone of economic relations between Jordan and the United States, Mr. Judeh shared the history of AmCham-Jordan and the crucial role it plays in fostering and attracting investments to Jordan. This has helped to increase no-lateral trade and attract investments.

AmCham-Jordan aims through its various activities and outreach programs to increase awareness of the advantage of the Jordan-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (JUSFTA) leveraging the benefits it provides to both big and small businesses working towards utilizing the FTA to its best potential.

AmCham-Jordan’s Chairman, Mr. Samer S. Judeh, attended a lecture on Science Diplomacy that was organized by The Royal Scientific Society. The American Association for the Advancement of Science’s CEO Dr Sudip Parikh delivered a lecture entitled: “Science Diplomacy and the Power of Science to Build Bridges” where he discussed Science Diplomacy as a powerful tool for fostering collaboration and mutual understanding amongst scientist world wide.

PLMA Chicago 2023 Orientation Session at AmCham-Jordan Offices for Jordanian Pavilion participants at the 2023 PLMA Chicago Tradeshow.
The session was led by the CEO of AmCham-Jordan, Raghad Alkhojah, and covered topics such as the advanced program for exhibitors, the Show Navigator Online Portal, marketing and design for appropriate branding and exposure, as well as sample shipment instructions and additional details that provided the support required to get the best results from each company's participation.

AmCham-Jordan in collaboration with Partners for Good (PfG) held a “Meet the Expert Session” to Introducing the Best Places To Work to AmCham-Jordan members.
Guest speakers, Ms. Sally Abu Ali (CEO & Founder of AMAN HC) and Mr. Daniel Sharaiha (CHRO- Human Resources and Customer Experience at Bank al Etihad), were joined by Mr. Waleed A. Tarawneh (President and CEO of PfG).

Speakers shared valuable insights and expertise on boosting performance in the corporate world and the role investing in the workplace plays in increasing productivity, innovation, and higher both employee and client satisfaction, while also achieving international recognition.

The session concluded with an engaging discussion with AmCham-Jordan members on Best Places To Work certificate and the opportunities behind it.

AmCham-Jordan's recent event under the title of "Vendor Day" with Regional Contracting Center - Operation Inherent Resolve (RCC-OIR) and Theater Contracting Center - Southwest Asia (TCC-SWA), with over 130 private companies in attendance.

The conference focused on attracting companies to compete for U.S. Government business and emphasizing the transparent nature of the U.S. Government procurement process. The increase in vendor base will create greater competition, ultimately resulting in conducting business that is within the best interest of the Government.

Sell + Source: Jordan Workshops! The two specialized workshops held in collaboration with Brand Together covered the topics of U.S eCommerce and U.S. Online Trading delivered by subject matter experts.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) in its capacity as representative of Local Area Working Group-Jordan comprised of the Leading Innovative Bio-pharmaceutical Research Companies (LAWG PhRMA) and The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) agreed to build cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Improving Jordan’s Attractiveness to Clinical Programs & Patient Access to Innovative Treatments”

The signing took place at the JFDA offices on Monday, May 15th 2023 and was signed by Mr. Samer S. Judeh, AmCham-Jordan’s Chairman, Dr. Muath Al-Zghool, LAWG Elected Chair, and H.E. Dr. Nizar Mhaidat, General Director of the Food and Drug Administration.

First Webinar Session: Introduction about Oman - U.S. Free Trade Agreement.

The session that was held on Wednesday May 10th, as the first in the series of online workshops designed to inform Oman and the U.S. Business communities about the benefits and opportunities of the FTA.

During the session, Advocate Lana Nimri, Legal Advisor, Head of the JUSFTA Unit discussed, the fundamentals of the international trading system WTO rules, bilateral FTAs and how to boost two-way trade and economic growth.

USAID Informal Livelihoods Advancement Activity (Iqlaa) recently participated at Tawasol Forum organized by The Crown Prince Foundation. The forum covered several topics including the aspirations of young Jordanians in the fields of politics, economy, and business. Iqlaa’s COP Laith Al Qassem actively participated in a panel discussion on unemployment and the informal economy, and discussed the importance of public-private dialogue in Jordan, emphasizing how these topics form key pillars in the Iqlaa program.

AmCham-Jordan participated in the annual AmCham MENA Regional Council Conference on "Accelerating Green Investments in the MENA Region: U.S. and Regional Partnerships for Growth".

The Conference was organized by AmCham Egypt in Cairo, that holds the 2022-2023 AmCham-MENA Council Presidency.

Samer S. Judeh, AmCham-Jordan Chairman spoke at the session on the future of renewable energy in the region. In addition to the Jordanian panelist Raed Daoud, CEO and Founder of EcoConsult, who spoke in the session on "Advancing Innovation in Agriculture, Water Resources Management, and Environmental Sustainability".

IFC Jordan NQI Project

Final Event & Presentation of the New Traceability Regulation, an extended joint workshop by JFDA, IFC and AmCham-Jordan.

Opening Remarks were given by AmCham-Jordan's Chairman, Mr. Samer S Judeh along with IFC's Regional Manager, Mr. Abdullah Jefri. JFDA's Director General Prof. Nizar Mhaidat stated the importance of Traceability for the Food Sector Development.

Discussing the importance of National Traceability System for Business Development and Export Grow, AmCham-Jordan's Legal Advisor Adv. Lana Nimri introduced Legal Architecture needed for the National Food Traceability System.

New shipping line between Jordan's Aqaba port and US cuts journey by 22 days
---------------
A shipping sea line connecting the ports of Aqaba and the United States of America was officially opened in Aqaba on January 29th 2023, reducing the time between their arrivals from 35 to 22 days.

Mr. Samer Judeh, Chairman of AmCham-Jordan, described the importance of Jordanian ports, which are the only external commercial and economic gateway to the Kingdom for shipping goods and attracting maritime traffic, and emphasized the Chamber's willingness to develop trade and investment ties between the U.S. and Jordan.

AmCham Jordan, from the very beginning, joined forces with related member companies and authorities, including our friends at the Economic Section at the US embassy, to reach a breakthrough in reducing the shipping time to the east coast of the United States.

The next steps are to maintain the momentum and to increase the volume of containers moving through Aqaba, which supports the price competitiveness of Jordanian exports, jobs and livelihoods, and realizing the benefits of JUSFTA, with all involved governmental and private sector bodies.
