📍 Honnoji Temple & Teramachi Street, Kyoto
🌦️ Today’s Weather: 26°C / Rain, occasionally cloudy

Honnoji Temple after the rain, and the peaceful view looking north up Teramachi Street from Oshikoji.

Reflections on the wet stone pavements, the damp, softened air, and the gentle echoes of late summer cicadas.
As the heavy summer heat slowly eases with each passing rain, Kyoto quietly turns the page toward autumn. In these timeless, quiet shifts of the season, you can feel the quiet soul of this city.

A subtle whisper of autumn amid the late summer warmth. Walking through Kitano Tenmangu shrine this morning, the quiet grounds were filled with the delicate chorus of autumn insects.

The true essence of Kyoto lies beyond its famous landmarks; it is found in these quiet, transient moments. In a city where over a thousand years of daily life and devotion intersect, even the sound of the wind or the chirping of insects carries the weight of history and a deep reverence for nature.

This is the quieter, deeper side of Kyoto—one that reveals itself only when you slow down and truly listen.

Beyond the earthen walls of Kennin-ji lies a Zen temple where space itself becomes part of the experience. In the heart of Kyoto, this is a place to slow down, breathe, and appreciate the beauty of emptiness.
