On September 11, we come together as a community to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks, honor the 2,977 victims, and remember the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

🚨 Six firefighters. Two milestones. One proud department. 🚒

Today, Misawa Fire & Emergency Services celebrated six firefighters reaching major career milestones.

🔥 Two new firefighters were officially welcomed during our Helmet Ceremony, marking the beginning of their firefighter careers.

🚒 Four firefighters earned their promotion to Driver Operator after successfully completing their 5-Level Upgrade Training a testament to their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Congratulations to all six firefighters! Your achievements strengthen our department and keep our community safe.

We had an incredible time at the Joint Fire Department Friendship Volleyball Tournament with our local Japanese partners. This event is rich in tradition and heritage, celebrating the strong bond we share with our host nation friends.

To top off a fantastic day of camaraderie and friendly competition, we are honored to take home the championship trophy! 🥇🚒

A huge thank you to our incredible Japanese partners for an outstanding tournament, and to everyone who came out to play, cheer, and support. We look forward to continuing this great partnership!

Heading out to the campground, beach, or just your backyard? 🍔☀️

Before you fire up the grill, take a moment to review these essential fire safety tips! As the attached photo shows, two of the most critical rules are keeping your grill in a safe, open space and NEVER leaving it unattended.

Here are a few more tips to keep everyone safe this grilling season:

🔥 Starting the Fire: If you use lighter fluid for a charcoal grill, only use fluid intended for charcoal. Never add it to already ignited coals, and never use gasoline.

🛡️ Create a Safe Zone: Keep children, pets, and anything that can burn (like food wrappers or towels) at least 3 feet away from the grill. Use long-handled tools for extra clearance from the heat!

🏕️ Check Local Rules: If you are taking a portable grill to a park or beach, always check local fire restrictions first and only set up in permitted areas.

🧯 Safe Cleanup: Before leaving the area or going to sleep, douse charcoal fires with water until they are cool to the touch. Empty ashes into a designated metal container with a tight-fitting lid—never dump them directly into a regular trash can!

We were proud to support Police Week last week alongside our Security Forces partners. Our crew brought out a fire truck for the community to explore and gave visitors a hands-on look at some of the extrication equipment we use during emergency responses.
