The Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai, is currently developing multilingual versions of its e-learning materials for Japanese-language learners in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, some of the target countries of the Partnership to Co-create a Future with the Next Generation: WA Project 2.0. This article introduces courses on the JF Japanese e-Learning Platform Minato and the Memory Hint series of character-learning applications, both scheduled for multilingual release.

◆“Nihongo Kyoiku Tsushin” provides Japanese-language teachers, in particular those overseas, with information on teaching materials, teaching ideas for the classroom, current topics in Japan, the situation of Japanese-language education both in Japan and abroad, and so on.

【大韓民国中等教育日本語教師研修、そなエリア東京へ！】
大韓民国中等教育日本語教師研修（2026年7月21日～8月13日）に参加した韓国の先生38名で、体験しながら日本の防災について学べる「そなエリア東京」へ行きました。
災害について学びながら、防災の大切さを実感しました。参加者からは、「日本の高度な防災体制や社会的取り組みを直接学ぶことができた」、「単なる災害対策の知識だけでなく、日本の自然環境から生じた社会構造や仕組みなど、より深い背景まで知るきっかけとなり、非常に勉強になった」、「とても考える部分があったし、授業でも活用できると思った」などの声が聞かれました。

１．石井容子他「『アニメ・マンガの日本語B1B2（ブラック・ジャック）自習コース』の開発－マンガを読んで楽しむことを学びにつなげる－」

国際交流基金関西国際センターが運用する日本語学習プラットフォーム「JFにほんごeラーニングみなと」では、手塚治虫の名作『ブラック・ジャック』をそのまま教材として活用したオンラインコースを提供しています。本物のマンガを通じて学習意欲を高め、継続学習につなげることを目指したこのコースについて、開発の経緯や工夫、受講者からの反応を紹介しています。

２．東健太郎他「オンライン日本語教師入門コースの改定－「日本語教師のための教授法オンラインコース」を活用した反転授業形式の導入－」

国際交流基金ケルン日本文化会館では、2019年から、経験の浅い日本語教師や教師志望者を対象としたオンライン日本語教師入門コースを実施しており、ドイツを含む北欧・中東欧の国々から受講者が参加しています。2024年度から、「みなと」の教授法オンラインコースを使った反転授業形式に変更しました。その導入の背景やコースデザイン、実践成果について、報告しています。

３．篠原亜紀他「『JF にほんごe ラーニングみなと』を活用した教授法研修－大学教員のための『文法の教え方研修－』」

This month, we’ll introduce three different practical applications of “JF Japanese e-Learning Minato.” From developing a course for learners to supporting teacher training and professional development, these examples show the many ways “Minato” can be used.

1．Ishii, et al. “Development of the ‘Japanese in Anime & Manga B1B2 (Black Jack) Self-Study Course’ : Enjoyable Learning through Reading Manga”

“JF Japanese e-Learning Minato,” an online platform for learning Japanese run by the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai, offers an online course using TEZUKA Osamu's famous manga “Black Jack”. The course aims to increase learners’ interest in studying Japanese through authentic manga and encourage them to continue learning. This article introduces the development of the course, the ideas behind it, and feedback from learners who took the course.

2．Azuma, et al. “Revision of the Introductory Course for Japanese-Language Teachers (Online): Introduction of a Flipped Classroom Format Using the ‘Online Teaching Methods Course for Japanese Language Teachers’”

Since 2019, the Japan Cultural Institute in Cologne has offered an online introductory course for novice and aspiring Japanese language teachers. Participants have joined from Germany and other countries in Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe. In 2024, the course was redesigned as a flipped classroom using the “Minato” online teaching methodology course. This article reports on the background, the course design, and the outcomes of the program.

3．Shinohara, et al. “Teaching Training Programs Using ‘JF Japanese e-Learning Minato’: Grammar Teaching Course for University Teachers”

The Japan Foundation, Jakarta, in cooperation with the Indonesian Association of Japanese Language Education, held a teacher training program on teaching grammar to university teachers with more than 10 years of experience. The program aimed to develop teacher leaders who can mentor younger teachers. The program adopted a flipped classroom approach using the “Minato” online teaching methodology course. This article reports on the program design, its implementation, and feedback from the participants.

The Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai, offers a variety of classes for overseas teachers participating in training programs in Japan. In one such class, the participants have the opportunity to appreciate the art of E-tegami (Japanese Art Letters), and to create their own E-tegami by using a “towel brush,” a simple tool made from everyday materials. This article introduces a classroom activity that promotes mutual understanding by encouraging participants to express their feelings through E-tegami and to appreciate one anothers’ works while imagining the thoughts and emotions behind them.
